He is the fastest kid I have ever coached. EVER. His 2023 wasn't as good as his 2022 but this kid has serious wheels - his draft camp 20m time UNDERstates just how fast he is.
What should I tell her? She's going to ask.

He's not making a lot of phantom drafts even the deep ones so I've sort of been hopeful he might be still available when we have a pick or two

His running and athleticism results at the combine are super impressive

      5mtr 1.050 89.2%
      10mtr 1.726 95.7%
      20mtr 2.871 100.0%
      Agility 8.3020 82.7%
      2km 6min 6 sec 91.4%
      Vertical jump 73 78.2%
      Running VJ 92 89.1%

That's all round elite performances plus his skill level doesn't want for much.

I'm surprised he isn't a lot higher on draft lists.

I haven't seen any that go past pick 30 really. I'm convinced that both O'Dricoll and Xavier Walsh get drafted though.

My understanding (interpret that how you will) is that neither player has met with our club.

There are a few that go up to about 40 and both aren't being mentioned. Walsh tested poorly so thats no real surprise but he did get an invite to the National Combine so there must be some interest. O'Driscoll though tested brilliantly and I thought that might have drawn plenty of interest. Shame that he doesn't appear to be on our radar but I suspect he might still go before our 3rd pick.

Because he isn’t a footballer , more an athlete ?

No, he's a footballer just a very athletic one.

                So what’s the negatives ?
Why is he not higher up ?

                    Because:

1/. He is E-L-I-T-E by foot. Absolutely top tier.
2/. He was suspended due to a 'dangerous' tackle (broke a collar-bone, not a head and was awarded a free-kick by the umpire on the day) which led to him being ruled out for all but the first game of the champs - the Allies game where WA got smoked and the ball basically never went down his end.
3/. Just as he was getting into form at the end of the year, he was concussed in a sling tackle (no report this time but he did get a free kick) and missed more time.

I think he's played a total of 6x colts games.

I don't know why, he looks a very good prospect from the limited vision I have seen. Perhaps his size (175cm 70kg) might put a few teams off but it shouldn't.

Sounds like two players worth a swing late in the draft if available, or via the rookie list. O’Driscoll definitely caught my eye with the testing results.
Have you heard Butters wants to come to the Dogs?

Wing or half forward would seem like logical positions for O'Driscoll. He reads the play very well.

Is that because the vast majority of media and draft type watchers are Melbourne based or because Perth is a bit underdone for coverage?
