Re: 2023 Draft Watch
Waston's movement is elite we are crying out for a player like him.
If we got him our entire forward line would be first round draft picks, majority top 10(subbing Lobb for Darcy) is this too much investment in one area of the ground? Would we be better suited with a mid? It's an interesting one I reckon.Last edited by kruder; 07-09-2023, 07:46 PM.Comment

Re: 2023 Draft Watch
Speaking of outside mids, Caleb Windsor coming home with a bullet.
Really eye-catching and after missing champs probably goes round 1 now. Sub-80kgs so probably not as 'ready' as Wilson as an outside runner but those late-bolters can make for good drafting (e.g. Oliver, Ward, Michalanney)
He was right in the mix of best players for Eastern yesterday in the same game that Croft went goalless.
Wilson would be a good fit for us as well and was one of the better players for Murray today kicking 3 goals.
I know you've got some reservations on George Stevens especially around his mobility but he's had an impressive season and was great again today.Western Bulldogs Football Club "Where it's cool to drool"Comment

Re: 2023 Draft Watch
What's the go with Lual, he is in our NGA right? I never thought id say this but we actually need another developing HBF on the list I'm not convinced by Cleary at all any more, he doesn't do enough damage.
Thoughts on Lual?Comment

Re: 2023 Draft Watch
We can get him with points if he's drafted late enough (40 or later IIRC)[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]Comment

Re: 2023 Draft Watch
With all the talk that we are right in the frame to land pick 4 from the Suns and to get ahead of any bids for Croft, which players at the top end of the draft appeal to you the most for us? The pick will very likely move to #5
I think we can certainly rule out Reid and Walter for still being available but there are some talented players that would be around the mark. I'd probably also put a line through Duursma being available as the Hawks seem very interested.
Three names might be in the mix for us:
Nick Watson is an exceptional small forward/midfielder who reads the play as well as anyone and hit the scoreboard.
Daniel Curtain is a versatile key defender (195cm) from WA capable of playing a variety of roles including the midfield.
Colby McKercher is a ball-winning midfielder with a good balance of pace and skills.
Do any other these players do you have a particular preference for?Western Bulldogs Football Club "Where it's cool to drool"Comment

Then maybe:
Reid (NM)
Walter (GCS)
Curtain (WCE)
McKercher (WCE would be great for them if think)
Duursma (Haw)
Stevens (Dogs) ???
To me it looks like Stevens is our boy. No matter which way we cut it. I’m happy with any, but Stevens looks like it.Rocket Science: the epitaph for the Beveridge era - whenever it ends - reading 'Here lies a team that could beat anyone on its day, but seldom did when it mattered most'. 15/7/2023Comment

Re: 2023 Draft Watch
I don't any of these players but I think we need some speed and skill in the mid field so on your descriptions that makes it Colby McKercher.
Outside of that Watson would be the next one as we haven't locked in a small forward yet. I think Arty should be more up the field and the jury is out on Charlie Clarke although we'll have a better idea by the end of next season.Don't piss off old people

I wonder if WCE are dead set after Curtain, if there?s a deal on 1 (& something) for 2 & 3.

I'd imagine we'd be weighing up between Watson, or Sanders if we wanted a pure mid.Western Bulldogs: 2016 PremiersComment

Re: 2023 Draft Watch
I figure Curtin and Reid are zero chances regardless. I was really hoping North don’t get band 1 and that Hawks take Duursma, because he’s the one I rate least, and it would leave McKercher to us. As it stands, I’m expecting we pick WatsonComment

Re: 2023 Draft Watch
Then do 2 & 10 for 1 & 20 if they want Reid, plus Sanders and the first pick of night two which is a great pick to hold.
Just got to hope the money offered to McKay is good, but not great.Rocket Science: the epitaph for the Beveridge era - whenever it ends - reading 'Here lies a team that could beat anyone on its day, but seldom did when it mattered most'. 15/7/2023Comment
