Re: 2023 List Management Thread
We spent a fair bit of time playing Baz/Macrae high, Scott at times, and often we play Marra in that role (he was pretty shallow in some of his better games, including his 5 against Melbourne).Western Bulldogs: 2016 PremiersComment

Re: 2023 List Management Thread
I think Bedendo has potential to do something those you mention, except for Scott who is quite good at it for his height, can't.TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.Comment

Re: 2023 List Management Thread
It could sound like Bedendo has a case for playing in defense as intercepting fullback , if he is a good mark.Comment

Re: 2023 List Management Thread
Has to be a medical/fitness evaluation. Those watching training said he really stood out pre-injury. Great mark, leap, speed, agility and good skills were mentioned at various times. Models himself on Howe from Collingwood. If he has that in him at AFL level post injury, gotta be a keeper.Comment

The one that came to mind for me was Dylan Grimes from Richmond. Perpetually injured when younger.Comment

Re: 2023 List Management Thread
This.
We frequently put years into guys that never really show they are AFL quality. I can think of one player (Roarke, and whether or not he is good is debateable) we have had on the list that has turned out good without getting games in at worst their second year and being on a clear trajectory towards being an AFL player by their third.
It would be so much more beneficial for list turnover and uncovering new talent if we made the call, that if they aren't in the mix by year 2 for gametime and haven't shown clear signs of being an AFL talent by year 3 then we cut them. Would also apply if they have two stagnant seasons as not comfortably being in the mix.
If we followed this rule we would have cut:
Ben Cavarra after 2, Khamis after 2, Porter after 2, Greene after 2, Lynch after 2, Roarke after 2, Collins after 2,
Will Hayes after 3 years, Young after 3, Webb after 3,
Bedendo now after 3 years, Sweet* after 3 years (two seasons ago),
and Garcia has stagnated at that year 2 stage for years 3 and 4, so i think would be cut now after 4 years, likewise Crozier is just sitting there
We do that and we free up 24 one year contracts in Bevo's reign, which is 2 and a bit a year, and the total cost is basically one and a half solid seasons from Roarke and a handful of serviceable games from Young. This is moneyball.
*Sweet may also be able to disprove this, but he plays a weird position and contrary to popular opinion is still not a sure thing.Comment

Re: 2023 List Management Thread
Do you really think he can do that?
On top of that, we play an extra at the stop so he's going to be needed to essentially position himself to strike on (potentially two) oppo defenders who are corridor positioned for release AND get back forward....
I just don't see it mate.What should I tell her? She's going to ask.Comment
