I think he's one of those players who doesn't need to be on the field to still generate interest. He has a distinct skillset that is attractive to many clubs. In a few months time with no exposed footy form, as ageing midfielders at other clubs show signs of decline.... you can bet recruiters will romanticise Smith's capabilities, and recall less and less his propensity at times to butcher the ball.
He may not want to leave, but he may want to drive up his value. Right now, coming into a new season every team's ageing midfielders are still rolls royce's...that's why their respective clubs have them going around again.......but come end of winter...Bailey is going to look more of a target and he can use that to pry some more money out of us for 2 more years, as some of them decline.
I'm looking at you Dangerfield and Dusty,

I think there's no benefit to waiting personally (on the bulldogs side of things)

He's just already made his decision and is waiting for the best offer (from elsewhere).

You have to wonder if there were a mid season trade period this year if we would receive any offers for Macrae and if we would consider them.

I don't reckon Smith is thinking about too much. This is probably the first article for a while and the first with something actually to do with Bailey Smith's contract offer from the Doggies.

It wouldn't surprise me if there's a bit of a dance from here and he signs within a few weeks to a couple of months. Just be patient with the media BS that's about to drop on us.

He's contracted until the end of 2027 on pretty good money - a deal that was starting to stink during his patch of poor form last year. If things don't change trajectory, I reckon the list management team might be happy to shift some of that money off our books.

He's contracted until the end of 2027 on pretty good money - a deal that was starting to stink during his patch of poor form last year. If things don't change trajectory, I reckon the list management team might be happy to shift some of that money off our books.

Bailey Williams is the one that puzzles me. I don?t think he has lived up to his potential. He was close to worst in ground in that disastrous GF?21. At least Macrae has been AA & vice captain.

Does he seem recovered to you Aza? This man is a shell. A husk. The vitality of life left him long ago. All the remains is a sad reminder of what used to be and that all glory shall fade in time... (not serious of course I don't want to seem mean)
