Yes, of given a full pre-season. I don't think Brew gets a chance with is given our midfield age profile and Bice might not get a shot with Bramble's rise but both guys should be in the system.

Is anyone keen on Sam Davidson from Richmond VFL? He looks like an AFL player to me could we play him off half back? I would be considering him from our second selection no doubt.

Draft Speculation in terms of Pick Trades

A potential pick swap frenzy is on the cards for this year’s AFL national draft as clubs clamour over a talented pool of prospects.

The draft is being held over two nights on November 20 and 21, with the first round expected to span 27 selections due to father-son and Academy picks.

Brisbane Lions father-son Levi Ashcroft is tipped to receive a bid within the top three selections, with Gold Coast Suns Academy member Leo Lombard and Essendon Next Generation Academy member Isaac Kako also expected to be among the first dozen picks.

Brisbane Lions Academy midfielder Sam Marshall – who has been invited to the first night of the draft – is tipped to receive a bid around pick 20.

There is much intrigue over which way clubs with top-five selections go.

Richmond is widely expected to select Victorian midfielder-forward Sam Lalor with the No. 1 selection, but has also been weighing up Finn O’Sullivan as another option.

North Melbourne has shopped around pick 2 in an attempt to execute a “slight slide” back in the order, but has yet to find a buyer.

However, a live trade with Adelaide (pick 4) cannot be ruled out on draft night, with the two clubs having discussed that scenario.

The Crows like local prospect Sid Draper, as well as Victorians Jagga Smith and Harvey Langford.

Carlton (pick 3) has been linked to Victorian Finn O’Sullivan, but has expressed significant interest in Draper and Smith.

Melbourne (pick 5) has been linked most strongly to Smith and Langford.

“There’s a range of different emotions,” Smith said of the build up to the draft.

“Right now it’s excitement. I’ve been striving for this ever since I can remember, to be honest. So for it to be right around the corner is really exciting.”

St Kilda is expected to trade out one of its two top-10 picks, potentially for two later first-round selections.

Multiple clubs – including Essendon and North Melbourne – have flagged their interest in trading 2025 draft selections back into this year’s first round.

Richmond is one club which could trade at least one pick into next year, given it holds eight top-30 selections.

One of those picks is the first selection of the second round, which is often highly sought-after if a player that clubs like slides through night one.

In addition to Ashcroft, there look set to be at least three other father-son selections made in the draft.

Carlton has access to twins Ben and Lucas Camporeale, while Adelaide is expected to select marking forward Tyler Welsh.

WHEN IS THE 2024 AFL DRAFT?

The 2024 AFL national draft will be held over two nights, with the first round to take place on Wednesday, November 20. The following rounds will be conducted on Thursday, November 21. The rookie and pre-season drafts will follow on Friday, November 22.

WHERE CAN I WATCH THE AFL DRAFT?

I wonder why the Saints are considering trading one of their early picks? I get that in the scenario mentioned they might end up with 3 first rounders instead of two but it seems strange unless they are trying to cover some needs based scenario's

Have we been linked with any potential extra moves into the first round?

With the supposed depth of this draft I'd be interested to see if we are trying something with futures.

Would you trade 17 & 25 for 8? (I'm guessing the Saints would want more than that but just ignore that for a moment)

I go on about this every year, but draft pick trade offers should be made to be on tv. Would make for a much more entertaining product.
Seeing the offers when players slide and clubs pretty much decide to auction off their pick would be interesting to see

In live trading would be more like 10 for 20 and 29? The numbers look good but it all comes down to who is available. With the deep draft it feels like 10-30 probably aren't that different, so give yourself two bites. No trade for me.

edit: Just saw GVG posted it last page, only ones I could possible see picked up are CCP and Moloney. Everyone else is too old, too vanilla or just not that great.

It would need to be closer to 17 and F1.

Yes. This I would be down for. Great suggestion.

From a Dogs perspective I probably would if I was confident of getting one of the better players.

I'd really hope we have Will Hayes on our radar

It's a long interview but it might be worth listening to if you have rated some of his highlights

There is a mention of AOD
