What I mean is, if nobody took him (yes, yes, I know they will, but bear with me, OK?) and he went through as per the regular fashion, he wouldn't necessarily be playing in 2014.

Surely GWS are more in need of mature players. They have an abundance of young talent already.

While I don't know their thinking it is clear that the mini-draft selections were designed for them to trade to get some mature players.

For us to get Martin, I would expect us to trade someone to them who can play immediately. Be nice if they wanted Sherman or perhaps Tutt.
Could be an option to include one or both as part of a trade.

He is going in the mini-draft.
What should I tell her? She's going to ask.

Jackson Macrae's been getting good reviews on B/F reviews!
Outside inside mid type by all accounts, peoples thoughts?

The Western Bulldogs, with two top-10 picks, are well placed to land Martin with the other mini-draft pick, though they will not concede to the Giants' initial demand for both those picks.

I think there is a chance that we might use two picks but obviously there would need to be a significant sweetener if it was the first two.
I know a while back you were keen on Jed Anderson. Do we know if he is still on the GWS list?

I would be upset if we used picks 5 and 6 on Martin.

No, Jed's never been on their list (well apart from the U18's team) and he hasn't committed to the club as a GWS zone selection yet either. By all reports he has a good attitude and is keen to play AFL so I wonder whether he likes it at GWS or if GWS are that keen on him? They can trade him as he is a zone selection. Collingwood traded for Yagmoor last year, a GC zone selection, so it can be done.

I hope it's something we consider doing.

Depends. 1 gun = better than 2 ok players.

This draft is critical to get right, isn't it? Hopefully we don't have such high picks again for a looooooong time.

Where would he go(or is ranked) in next seasons draft Gary?

                        I know it's a long way out.

Would a better question be, where would he go in this years draft?

One would think that we will get another very high pick next year as I can't see us getting out of the bottom 4 or 5 teams... if the franchise teams improve (as most expect them too) we could finish right down near the bottom.

Is he that good?, a Gun? I would say pick 5 and 6 should not be just ok players

It would be a huge risk to give up two picks in the top 6 for a 17 year old that may or may not make it. The age of 17 is a critical point in the lives of young athletes and they could lose the passion to play. I have seen many talented 17 year olds give up their sport as other factors come in to play like doing VCE, hanging around with mates after getting a license, legal drinking age etc and just wanting to have fun. I hope Martin is not in this category.

Martin only finished 1 point behind Whitfield for the best player of the championships, yet is obviously a year younger. The general consensus is Martin will go at pick 1 or 2 in this year's draft, I would pick him at 1 personally.

Well if we did GWS would have to give something good in return. For example I think Martin and Jed Anderson for picks 5 & 6 is fair. Maybe picks 5 & 6 for Martin and GWS 1st round compo pick (around pick 20).
