All the rest are either too young, over 30, no good or eligible for some form of FA .

And I'm torturing myself imaging what we would have got for Cal Ward this year under that formula.
    Would they want a Higgins?

I'm sure they would, but I doubt we'd want to trade him, and I doubt they'd offer anything in the early first round, perhaps a second round pick would be his market value.

As much as piling up picks would be great, I just don't see how we can position ourselves to get involved.
Have you heard Butters wants to come to the Dogs?

Yep, all things going well it's going to be his first uninterrupted pre-season for 3 years.

I mentioned in the other thread that he wants Higgins and Griffen to more of the heavy lifting next season.

I watched Griffen doing a lot of 'heavy lifting' this year and it broke my heart.

He was just getting pounded and smashed because no one cared if any of our other midfielders had the ball. Griffen's endeavour and heart have never been questioned but he's a blue chip thoroughbred who should be free to run and inspire.

Please don't send him in to the coal pits.

I will say this is the first thing I've heard from Bmac that doesn't sit well.

He has asked every player to do this and is something I don't get. I have mentioned in other threads, I think this is what killed Sherman this year.

While I agree with you in theory Bornadog, I just think Sherman, even given free rein, was a bit of a headless chook.

Griff should be one of the top five players in the comp and he hasn't got there yet. Bmac seems to think that by doing more in and under work he will be harder to tag and hence a better, more consistent player.

Wow. If some of the rumours are true it looks like Adelaide will get less for Tippett than the Pies got for Dawes

Pick 22 and White, apparently is floating around.

The best players do a lot more than Griff. He's got to go another level to get there. Why is it a problem to ask for more?

Yeah it sounds that way. There will probably be an exchange of later picks to try and even it up a little more. Dawes had a contract, Tippett did not which is why they're getting bent over.

Agree, all players should be striving to get more out of themselves and the coach should be expecting this.

Sherman could potentially offer us something in 2013 but in a year where we are struggling like 2012 why play an experienced player if he isn't doing the non negotiables. Clearly macca and the coaches would have addressed it with him

I don't think they want to turn him into an inside player but he has to be able to win a contest and work hard without the footy

Eassendon have taken a similar tough love approach with Reimers

Well for a player with talent, he went backwards this year, so something is wrong.

On McCartney's matrix, I would think that Sherman is currently in the bottom left corner (basically saying that he doesn't commit to the club values, and isn't meeting expectations on the field). This would put him in the 'easy decision' to delist/trade category.

Will be interesting to see what happens. Personally, I think he's clearly got talent but agree he is more suited to a team that is winning than a team that is struggling as we have done and will probably continue to do.

Can we change him? I hope so.
