Whats Kelly' speed like & has he a penetrating kick?

He's meant to have great insurance and speed. I think it was the 800m test at the combine last year he finished 1st by a long way and posted the 3rd ever best time. Some other event he posted a time good enough to qualify for the commonwealth games. His left foot is also meant to be damaging. Very precise and penetrating. Not sure how he is on the right

BT, thanks for putting those posts together.

Reading up on Kelly actually stengthens my view on not trading for Tom Boyd. If the ladder stays as is, we should land a very very good footballer.

This however, is a bad and very wrong observation. If any whack can be given to Scharenberg, it’s perhaps that we haven’t seen him dominate one set position, becuase he is reguarly thrown into different positions on the ground throughout the game. (And that’s hardly a whack!).

The 20m sprint is the test for burst pace, he's not quick. That was the question asked.

As the test results you posted show, he is obviously a good endurance runner.

He's very similarly matched to Hunter, with Hunter being quicker but Kelly edging him for endurance. They're also almost the same age.

True. But 10th in the sprint came in at 2.93 seconds. Kelly, underage, was 3.10.

0.17 seconds between top 10 and his result is hardly, "not quick" though. Especially as he gets fitter, bigger and stronger.

There's not much between it but it equates to a couple of metres in the flesh and a couple of metres is a lot on a footy field. 5 of the ruckmen tested ran 3.10 or better.

Pure stats aren't the be all and end all though it should be said, give me a kid who can play over a kid who surprised people with how well he tested. 10 years of Scott Clayton taught me that. Hrovat tested slow but still looks like he moves well on the field and best of all he can clearly play .

We need pace in the midfield - watching Wallis get burned off just makes me wince. For all his other attributes teams exploit it. Kelly (at the moment) has virtually no inside game and poor standing start pace which is why I don't rate him in with the other top 3 picks. I'd rather Billings myself. Think he will be a very very good footballer. Kelly will be good, and he's clearly first round/likely to be top 22 pretty quickly for a team. I'm not convinced on great.

Yep. If the biggest knock on athletic freak, endurance athlete, Dual All Australian mid fielder, who dominated every level of boys footy who has disposal effeciency in the best 1% off the champs, and regarded by many to be the love child of Griffen & Penlebury is 0.10 seconds over 20 metres... And that drops him to pick 4... well.... Welcome to the dogs son!

Player Profile

Perhaps one of the most deadliest users of the footy in this year’s draft, Jack Billings is a rare and special talent who’s game nous, and weapon of a left foot hurts the opposition if given too much room. Billings has been lauded for his sticky hands, and is exceptional overhead and in the air. When the ball hits ground level, Billings has an uncanny ability to find his way through and out of traffic, setting up his team mates, or going the journey to kick a goal from close or long range. Outside of packs, Billings knows where to run, when to spread and his vision is impeccable, making for all the traits of a future elite midfielder. Billings is super similar to his 2012 Oakeligh teammate Jackson Macare, in that they both play predominately off half forward, but have the scope to go through the middle. Billings is very crafty around goals, but will look to further develop his endurance running to add to his flash and flamboyancy. Billings has capped off a tremendous 2013 carnival, taking home All Australian Honours to now make him a dual All Australian player.

Strengths

clean hands in the air or at ground level, multiple goal kick, very quick, super agile, clean skills, fantastic vision and awareness, racks up a lot of the ball, good leap, ability to move into the midifeld, elite kick on either side, rare playmaking ability, always spots up a target inside 50, great compsure and calm under pressure, strong marker and will add instnat flair and impact to any clubs forward line.

Weaknessness

Hasn’t shown a big endurance base to be able to play through the midfield, but wins so much ball off a half forward flank that many would believe he is a midfielder.

That's definitely moving, but you need 1:47 for Comm Games
