      Re: 2014 draft watch

It appears he's been playing predominately in the ruck which isn't what he'd be doing at AFL level. Still, glad to see he's run into some form to finish off what has been a challenging year for him.

      Did you get along T&T?
Have you heard Butters wants to come to the Dogs?

          Booooo.

Norwood knocked them off the other week, so without having seen any SANFL this year, I'm totally confident Norwood will win convincingly.

Perhaps he could be our Jackson Trengrove? Key defender and 2nd ruckman.
Maybe not in his first year but I think by his 2nd he might have that ability. If he tests at the combine I'll be interested in his running capacity.

If he tests well in key area's, would we be stretching to draft him at our first pick?

I have always been of the mind, draft the best available talent. But do we at some stage have to reach? Durdin could be the right player to stretch for.
More of an In Bruges guy?

As you have pointed out he might be a bit like Ports Jackson Trengove and capable of playing in defense and doing some ruck work and maybe pushing forward. Like most versatile players the question might be if he has a particular strength that he can command a senior spot with.

Could we afford to have both him and Roughead in the back line?

Well I guess that is why you are interested in to see how he tests at the combine.

If he test well in speed and agility, why not?

If he tests just ok perhaps not.

Having said the above I guess it also depends on where they think Roughead will eventually play longer term.

He was considered top 5 before a disappointing champs
If you kicked five goals and Tom Boyd kicked five goals, Tom Boyd kicked more goals than you.

Knight mare on BF has Wright going at 5 !
Interestingly he has Foster going F/S for a third rounder and Cordy a 4th rounder.

                        Re: 2014 draft watch

I think we'll see either of Durdin or Wright available at pick 5.
As we're in a position of needing both a KP Forward or a KP backman, there really is no need to do anything drastic re trading up to pick 3 or anything like that.

The phantom drafts that I've seen demonstrate that this is a pretty even draft. Also, pick 5 was pretty good to us last year! I do realise we may slip to 6 with Melbourne being (over) compensated for Frawley, but pick 6 was also good to us in 2012!

In some ways, the pick 5-6 range is good, because it relieves some of the pressure of choosing between two or three players that you can't split. I think that, of the top four picks, two will be midfielders and potentially 3 of the top 5 will be. We will have some good quality talls available with our pick.

Wright has withdrawn from today's TAC Cup final. Unfortunately we won't get to see him in action although it might be a blessing for us if he was to kick a bag today.

Wright and Durdin are front runners, but a mate if mine said we will also be having a good look at Caleb Marchbank.
Looks like a key defender who takes a good grab, won't survive until our second round so would need to be our first pick.
Has anyone watched him and is he to short ?

He doesn't turn 18 until later in the year. 193cm tall and very athletic and can play on a flank or KP. Taking him at pick 5 would be a big call.
