There is always a balance too. I definitely don't think we should be looking at the UK to define that but yes, lots of things would be eliminated if we wanted to reduce death rate as much as possible (reducing need for travel, banning smoking/drinking, allowing gambling etc).

Re: Coronavirus Info & Helpful Direction

It has been a miserable time for many of us and yes our mental resilience has been stretched to the absolute limits and many, including those in the Woof community, are feeling the strain of this last lockdown. I feel for those who are struggling with the impact on jobs, friendships, and just simply getting by financially.

One thing that must be addressed when we re-open is the situation at sporting events. Every time I attended a bulldogs' match I came home shaking my head at how unsafe an environment it was.

The distancing was a joke - we were herded into queues to get in (some people are such sheep that as soon as you take one step forward in the queue, they take that step too).

There was no one checking if you'd checked in - in Qld, you always had to show your tick. My sister had forgotten a mask, but was still waved through.; it would be generous to say 1/2 of those there were wearing masks on the way in.

There were long queues in the food, drink, and toilets, again no attempts at distancing. Then you sat in your seat, arms touching other individuals or family groups in half empty stadiums. As we saw in Geelong when there was a cap of 7000 people, they all sat in the same bays. Heaven forbid that the greedy GFC couldn't eke out every cent from those attending. Surely there should be gaps between family groups, empty rows, and better attempts to disperse people around each arena - it is such an obvious weak point in the system.

All of this. I wore my mask all the way through. It reminds me of my four-year old daughter who says 'coronavirus is back', as if it's existence is stop/start cycle. I think she gets it now.

The AFL is considering the following for future matches:

          1. Staggered entry times depending on your gate of entry
          2. No food and Beverage at all
          3. Masks to be worn at all times.

These are just some of the options. They also need to spread the patrons more instead of herding everyone in the one section.

Perhaps people not vaccinated shouldn't be allowed in. Of course this is once we have enough supply for all.

              that would be good.

They would have to also consider what happens at the end of the game to get out.

Staggered entry depending on gate of entry? I hope that doesn't mean they do one gate at a time....because you know, that's just going to result in the same behaviour.

Interesting discussion, shows how clearly polarised views on the topic are.
                    TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.

This may come across as insensitive, but people dying is something we must accept. We will die of something even if we reach advanced years.

Many attributed to Covid have been in advanced years.

We haven't stooped to banning use of motor vehicles despite having 1142 traffic accident deaths in 12 months and undoubtedly numerous serious lifetime injuries.

Since the onset of the pandemic there has been 914 deaths that have been assessed as covid related.

I am relatively in the ‘pro’ lockdown camp but yes, we just maturely address a balance. Many risks we take as a society. All must be balanced. I do not believe UK’s approach is balanced but we also cannot lockdown forever. It’s hard as our society is ever polarised.

The reality for right now is that we aren't vaccinated and just like you can't drive a car without seatbelts we have to live with lockdowns until we can at least manage that.

The exact numbers we should be aiming for I don't know but I'd imagine a long way off where we are now.

No one can force anyone to be vaccinated, (I am), but let’s look fwd to season 2022. Will they only allow double vaccinated fans into AFL games? And even with concerts, or large events in general…if you’re not vaccinated, you don’t get in?
I will never see #16 the same!!

But even wearing seat belts the RTA stats are much worse.

On the pure statistical approach we would be saving a lot more lives and probably health care budget if we simply ban cars.
