Given how much this country has changed in a short space of time, I think we can draw broad similarities.

Curfews, 5km radius', mandatory mask wearing, being told when to leave the house/what for ... Whether you agree with the approach or not, we are being dictated by gov. Freedom is no longer.

Whether that's the right approach, well that's a different argument!

Absolutely, it's a big IF but that's kind of why we are where we are in this circular discussion about lockdowns, vaccinations, the capacity of our health system to cope with mass hospitalisations etc. etc...
      TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.

Are you Spotty or Newport Mantis? Yeah I think it is only that gym in Spotty. Mason Street Newport and Altona North there are a few places.

Ah yeah that makes sense. I'll admit I didn't take much notice of the rollout initially because as a young person able to work from home it wasn't something I was going to need to deal with for a good while. So I' can be a little fuzzy on the details

It will never be mandatory, but there will ALWAYS be a way or getting around that…there will be choices…

Wanna travel overseas ? Have to be vaccinated
Wanna go to a concert at Rod Laver ? Have to be vaccinated
Wanna work in health care etc ? Have to be vaccinated
Wanna go to the footy ? Have to be vaccinated

There will be other things too.

What will interest me is if employers get the right to make employees get vaccinated to keep their jobs.

For mine, ALL essential workers should be vaccinated, meaning post office staff, supermarket staff, etc etc.
if we go into lockdown, they are most at risk. Yet, my bro who works at Woolworths knows of about 10 staff at his store that refuses to be vaccinated.
I will never see #16 the same!!

It really feels like, once again, the younger generations have been let down by the olders. Both in the sense that they've (to my knowledge) been very slow to take up pfizer and in the sense that the nation politicians have failed to meet their responsibilities.

I don't begrudge the priority access to older people and essential workers though. But it felt like there was no real campaign or strategy to get people vaccinated. If anything it felt like the job was done, hard work is over back to life as normal.

My girlfriend works in aged care and it seems like a large number of them weren't vaccinated until they were told they'd get a $50 voucher if they did so in the next 5 days. In hindsight a similar investment (targeted so centers aren't swamped) probably would have saved a lot of money.

                  Anyway that's my ramble
I’ve had my 2 doses of AstraZeneca. No real effects for me. I’m under the 50, and no one I work with could believe I wanted it..I just wanted to get vaxxed ASAP. Glad I went with it.

                    Agree, it won't be mandated.

Interesting SPC are wanting all their staff either vaccinated or to take regular tests. I wonder how many more employers will do that and whether they can?

Last time the Vic govt announced a lockdown they started it at midnight and a heap of people packed out a bar called Me Frankie and it became a tier 1 infection site because of it. So this time they gave everyone less warning.

I spoke to a GP (not the one that gave me the vaccination.. A different GP I've been seeing for years) about the AZ vaccination for my 22yo son. He explained that while there was a possibility of an adverse reaction to the AZ jab for people in his age group, the problems associated with contracting Covid and the long term effects far outweighed any of the risks that came with the AZ vaccination.

Ironically when he went to have the AZ jab at Sunshine hospital last week they ended giving him the Pfizer anyway instead!
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

29 cases in Victoria today, none in quarantine. 7 day snap lock down is going to go for 7 weeks, isn't it?

I’m in the 1b category due to an underlying health issue, so my doc said go for it. He wasn’t that concerned about the blood clots. I really wasn’t either considering it’s a small number compared to the amount of vaccinated.

I’d love to say no, but 29 IC is a significant number. From a footy POV, the GF is as good as gone from Victoria.

Yep. I can see all finals being moved too. Horrible look to have the finals in Victoria with no crowds, and Sydney (maybe Lions too) not getting a home final either. Puts a big * next to the finals series and winners.
