29 cases in Victoria today, none in quarantine. 7 day snap lock down is going to go for 7 weeks, isn't it?

I read could be 6 mths of rolling lockdowns in Vic.

I'm not sure if it will extend the lock down but it probably highlights that the decision, as unpopular as it is, was the right one.
It's a real balancing act with no right answer.

What a *!*!*!*!ing diabolical 18 months it's been and will continue to be.

The Spanish Flu went for years and 15,000 died in Australia. Just imagine those days with no TV, Internet, Click and collect, Uber eats etc. Same restrictions, with masks, social distancing. Must have been a horrible time.

I think dealing with those that are sick are now much better looked after. Also we now have vaccinations, and we understand how the virus is transmitted through the air, so Hotel quarantine doesn't work if rooms are not set up properly.

As for the general public, well although most people doing the right thing, but too many are complacent.

It's madness, the day by day commentary. Three or four days ago the NSW government said their numbers were trending the right way because of a couple of days that didn't record 230 cases. On about day five of their lockdown the same *!*!*!*!wits talked about green shoots appearing due to their lockdown efforts.

These people don't even know what the word trend means and they're in charge of the advice! They are so eager to point score politically that they peddle false hope. It gets me worked up, because it gives the impression that they are in control, and they aren't.

Complacent or just downright arrogant. Everyone needs to be on board with this…if we don’t get 80% of the population vaccinated, we are no chance to going back to normal. Lockdowns mean bankrupt businesses, broken relationships, and homelessness.
Australia was leading the race when this hit, now we are running close to rear of field with a torn hamstring, ACL and broken arm.
We need to get our shit together…or this is going to be an endless struggle.

Also, international travel should not have even been considered until we reached 80% vaccinated…
And we shouldn’t have opened up to anyone else unless they were also 80% vaccinated.

I think it’s still the same. Victoria got 150,000 Pfizer from the Feds, but it looks like they’re not changing the criteria.
