Re: Recent Gigs & Upcoming ones

The Tea Party was my first ever concert. At the Palais with Dad (Always Right) when I was in year 7 i think.

Edges of Twilight in particular I associate with being played loud throughout the house on a Saturday morning throughout my childhood (and is the album that I remember getting played the most, with Jeff Buckleys Grace being the runner up). Dad used to talk often about seeing them when we lived in Hobart and how the venues they played were so small you were virtually on the stage with them.

Dads final concert before passing was at the Arts Centre seeing the Tea Party with the MSO, which I guess was some nice symmetry to our music experience together. His last concert with me (and ever) was the same band he taught me to love and took me to for my first concert.

We both agreed though that Jeff Martin was a complete wanker.
I should leave it alone but you're not right

That's amazing soup. Thanks for sharing.

Jeff Martin is an absolute tool, but that band makes sounds that shouldn't be possible for just three people on stage.

I’m going to see Mos Def I mean Yasiin Bey next month. Also going to see Yves Tumor a couple of days later.

The acts they get in for Rising are incredible.

Went to Sleater-Kinney gig the other. Really enjoyed it. They rock loud and ears still ringing after a couple of days (maybe not a good sign)

If anyone in Melbourne doesn't have tix for the Samantha Fish/Jesse Dayton gig at the Corner Hotel on Saturday, stop whatever you are doing and get them NOW.

Unbelievable show last night - blistering guitars...just incredible.

Got some bad news mjp. The Hold Steady is still the best live rock experience going around.

Yeah - They are amazing. I had been hoping to come but it's always in the middle of footy season, and well, coaching...

I'm telling you though, that Samantha Fish/Jesse Dayton show was no joke un-real...

                      Ride should be fun.

Would love to go to some of RVG, Deerhoof, J&MC or Bob Mould, but gonna see how the purse strings look after this weekend…
Also just saw the Hoodoos are doing a Stoneage Romeos 40 year celebration show. That’d be fun.
I remember seeing Bob Mould in the 90's at the pow. Just him and some backing tape. Unusual but good.

Yeah bought tickets for that. I hear there's a no standing policy at the Palais. But surely if everyone's up and about, how are they going to stop it.

Stoneage Romeos is one of the great debut albums. Wild guitars and humourous lyrics.

I remember when the Jesus and Mary Chain debut came out and just loving that sound. I know nothing of their history after that though.

Just saw Air do Moon Safari plus another 40 minutes of their catalogue at the Opera House.

                          Amazing, thanks again Aza!

Glad it was worth it. This might also be of interest.

More of an In Bruges guy?

The Tea Party was insane last night. How three dudes on stage can make that amount of sound amazes me.
