    Re: A League

Congratulations Central Coast Mariners. They breakthrough and win the 2012/13 A League title over Western Sydney Wanderers 2-0. That is their first A League title.

For the money it's a good (quite potentially great) deal but can't help but wonder, what happened to the youth policy? Why get rid of Matt Thompson?

Funny Melbourne Hellas described it as a "circus" when he signed for Melbourne Victory.

I think the club has realised that a youth policy is very hard to turn into consistent good performances when the youth you develop leaves (Behich, Babalj, Marrone). I think the club will still try and satisfy this by giving deserving young players an opportunity as we have seen with Jeremy Walker but the core of our side will be experienced.

Because he, along with other "stars" Colosimo, Fred and Bolton (all released) were contriuting very little. Thompson played every match because of the lack of alternatives and the versatility he offered. He didn't perform very well in a defensive midfield role and while I acknowledge he has been good for us in the past, he is no longer in our best 11. A bit similiar to how many see Cross playing out this year.
I should leave it alone but you're not right

You would expect with a much smaller wage and a marquee to go with him it will be less circus, mind you the club could use a circus to build up a profile and encourage people to comedown. Been largely irrelevant in its first few years, especially with Victory's re-emergence.

Yep a $950k pay cut from what Victory was paying him apparently. Is going to play for minimum wage(48k).

Kewell is now officially a Melbourne Heart player and will wear the number 10.

It was Scott Munn who made those silly comments.
Good for the league I suppose

Terry Antonis on the move to Serie A club Parma, good move for the 19 year old. Probably loaned elsewhere and has enough time to develop

What is wrong with these people that go to A-League matches and light flares, cause trouble. The game must be so boring they have nothing else to do. It is a disgrace and needs to be stamped out.
