Would?ve preferred to trade with WCE. They are light on for picks unless we have an interest in a fringe player, I think the name Cluret was mentioned as a defender on the outs but not quite tall enough.

Port have to deal for Ratugolea and Zerk-Thatcher as well.

Hopefully we aren't forced to only deal with Port. If some other clubs were interested it drives up the price a little. West Coast has been mentioned and Melbourne will need a Gawn backup if they agree to let Grundy go.

Any suggestions for our depth target after Sweet requests a trade? It looks pretty thin out there.

I'd rather Margaret Thatcher. At least she was hard as nails and gave absolutely nothing away.

Zerk-Thatcher should be delighted he is still even on an AFEL list (even at The Hanger). One of the most underwhelming footballers I can recall in the last decade or so.

If Sweet goes, we need to bring in another backup ruck

                      Is Sweet a Free Agent?

Would we be getting Sweet FA in return for Sweet FA?

                        Ha. No don't think so.

Straight swap for Lycett? I know that won't happen but we will likely be a part of the ruck musical chairs that takes place every year.

Were there whispers we might be sniffing around Xavier Duursma? ... Because he's taking serious flak from the Port faithful and another forgettable finals showing won't help his cause.

He's been knocked around through injury and plainly plateaued - so, gettable - and looks too heavy to me right now but if we're satisfied his athleticism's recoverable and he's amenable to a fresh start there's surely more upside with him patrolling a wing rather than our current options.

Plus we badly need to up our quotient of blokes from Gippsland.

The more likely scenario is that Duursma heads to the Hawks and potentially joins his brother there. Port are going to have to let a player go so they can have the currency for both Ratagolea and Zerk-Thatcher

I don't think they absolutely have to let a decent player go, they could trade next years first for a couple of second rounders to deal for those 2.
