          Re: Early Trade Rumours 2023

The race for out-of-contract Cat Esava Ratugolea has reportedly heated up in a big way with a reported $5 million deal on the cards.

Ratugolea is one of the biggest trade options on the market, given his potential in both attack, defence and as a backup ruck.

Port Adelaide had loomed as the early favourite to secure Ratugolea, after the big man tried and failed to be traded to the Power at the close of last season.

The Cat was forced to turned into a defender to crack Geelong’s line up this season, managing just 59 games before 2023.

Now SEN’s Sam Edmund believes Hawthorn have laid their cards out in an “enormous show of faith” in Ratugolea.

“Hawthorn’s offer for Esava Ratugolea … Multiple clubs I’ve spoken to believe that this deal sits around $5 million over seven years for Esava Ratugolea to get to Hawthorn,” he said.

Ratugolea - WTF. $5m for 7 years. If Ratugolea who can hardly get a regular game is worth $715K for 5 years. He has played in 75 games in six season. Actually played 20 games in his second season too.

Tyler Brockman (Haw) is reportedly wanting a trade back to a WA club to be closer with family (his partner has recently given birth to twins) so he might be used in the trade for Henry.

That's a bit silly. Can only assume the Hawks have spare cap space they need to spend and have a heavily frontloaded contact on the table.

Must be. Mitchell was pushing hard for clubs like his to sell their cap space this year. I guess that’s not happening this year.

I hope Hawthorn **** Geelong so hard that no trade happens and he goes to them in the PSD with nothing for Geelong.

That actually makes a lot of sense. Only problem might be the Roos having just lost Mckay might be in the market for a 'free' KPD

Hope we are not interested. I reckon we already have enough honest, athletic tryers. We need more natural, skilled footballers (speed too).

Yep. I’d take that risk though. North would be mad to do that on that money though.
