Multiple media people reporting Petracca manager is shopping him/telling dees he wants out. Clubs saying they don’t have the capital to get it done.
If we do in fact have a million to pay out, and say Baz and F2 got us a first and F1. Would you entertain handing over three late firsts (one this year, two next year) and probably a CD/Macrae type to get the deal done?
Or do you want a KPD like Barrass (but not him as he seems Hawks bound)?
I think I’d prefer a Jones replacement and firm up our defence.
Rocket Science: the epitaph for the Beveridge era - whenever it ends - reading 'Here lies a team that could beat anyone on its day, but seldom did when it mattered most'. 15/7/2023

Petracca and Bont together wins us a flag.
Warm bodies can do roles in the backline. Not many can do what Petracca can. If it was a remote possibility with our capital, we would be fools not to consider it.
(Also note he said he wants to play in front of big crowds so he's not coming to us)
According to Sam McClure he wants to play in front of big crowds and maximise his exposure and earning potential. If that is true we aren’t the club for him and despite his obvious ability I would stay well clear.
We have nothing to trade for him and he doesn’t fit our needs but yes we should 100% do it. It would be so sick. Him and Bont would be the damn Super Mario Brothers come to life.
- I'm a visionary - Only here to confirm my biases -

Forgetting what he would cost - Petracca and The Bont, agree would win us the premiership
FFC: Established 1883

I can only wish additions to midfield of Petracca+ Butters With Bonts, Treloar along side them in the first centre bounce. Crazy dream.
on bench for mids: Libba, Richards, Gallagher/Sanders/Garcia
Not sure where Petracca weights winning another premiership( or a few more!) vs more money and playing infront of big crowds.
It's hard to fathom exactly why Petracca wants out of Melbourne but given he has a long contract with them there might only be a couple of clubs able to offer up the trade. If he's fit he's certainly worth 2 top 10 picks and most likely more than that.
Could the Saints offer their pick 6 and if they were to get pick 7 for Battle and a future 2nd rounder and get Melbourne interested?
Fremantle has 3 first rounders but he's unlikely to want to go there.
Does he want to stay in Vic? Which big Vic clubs (Pies, Carlton, Cats) have the money & draft picks & are not a bottom 8 side like Tiggers & Bummers? Will be an interesting watch. Agree we should at least consider it. If Cats were interested would endanger Baz trade, or do they do a Brizzy and try and give us crumbs?
Josie :)
Our day will come
And we'll have everything.
We'll share the joy
Just like '54 again.
I have seen some wild suggestions on what it would take to land Petracca, but it?s like the same discount people want to apply to Baz (due to coming off injury) isn?t a consideration for him.
In some ways Petraccas injury could be viewed as riskier- ACLs on the other hand are a pretty known quantity.
What are the longer term implications if Trac receives heavy contact through the same regions? Does he recover to be 100% the player he was given the severity of his injuries?
I wouldn?t be throwing everything away for him. Also, if we can?t get him I hope nobody else manages and he stays out. I?d rather him stuck at a middling Melbourne than playing for someone in the mix.

How many reasons do you want?
1/ their culture sucks!
2/ they went from top of the tree to straight sets x 2 to 14th. With (key) aging players everywhere.
3/ they handled his (serious) injury poorly.
