Anyone else has a get out of jail free card.

A couple of my Essendon mates are actually laughing at this. They jokingly said that because they have zero points the AFL might gift them the 1st pick in the draft for the stress the fans have endured.
If it was a reasonable person rather than Hird coaching Essendon they likely would have accepted the slap on the wrist long ago and this would've been all done and dusted months ago. Tha AFL wanted to give them nothing more than a stern talking to but Hird just can handle anyone chastizing him.

Peter Gordon should arrange with the other presidents to put in a vote of no confidence in the AFL commision before this deal can be ratified.

Nearly vomited listening to Darcy spew praise on Hird stating a lesser person would have crumbled under the pressure and that he admires him.

A better person wouldn't have acted like Hird did Luke, and a better person would have already acknowledged his mistakes and culpability.

It's like saying "I like murderous tyrants because they stick to their guns". Really odd comments.
      TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.

Well I'm not surprised. Twelve months and a fine for one of the richest clubs!

Darcy is a pure sycophant, I can't stand hearing from him.

Hird reminds me so much of Lance Armstrong, deny, deflect, attack people questioning his behaviour, and bask in his triumphs regardless of whether they were earned or ethical.

You can't help but wonder the lenghts he went to as a player to find extra advantages. Nothing seems off limits to him.

And winning the game tonight Hird is some sort of conquering hero. Not surprised by any of this but it still sticks in my craw.

I'ved loved Luke Darcy for a long time but that glow just fizzled out.

Darcy is very arrogant thinks he knows it all.

Shane Charter provided him with "personal training advice" when he was out with his navicular foot injury in the late 90's.

He also put on a huge amount of muscle almost overnight between 97 and 98 which coincided with those foot problems. I'm not sure I can post my real thoughts on an open forum other than to say I would put an asterix next to anything with his name on it if it were up to me.

Athletes of all international sports must be sick to the guts watching this play out. I seriously hope WADA get involved at some point which is sad as the players then cop the brunt of Hirds rubbish. At least then there would be a series of lawsuits against the cheating dons and the carpet sweep would not be possible.

                                Luke Darcy. Shut up. Please.

I can't wait to see the resolution and then revisit my thoughts from months ago. My gut feeling is that what we are seeing now is that the allegations Essendon have made about the AFL's conflict of interest are actually true, although rather than it being a risk to their Club, it is in their favour. The AFL will have wanted this done and dusted much more quickly because of the $ that club can generate and there is no doubt in my mind that this plays out differently if it was another Club.

They've all been buying time to spin it in a way that suits both parties, rather than deliver a fair and just response. If the AFL mucks this up, I hope it pays a very heavy price. A league without Essendon can probably survive. A league that is compromised to the point that clubs can behave in that fashion and continue to play, receive favourable fixturing and reap the benefits of a system that ensures their status is protected probably won't last long at all.
