Incorrect. Could have but chose not to. The first rule of a cover up is don't go looking for evidence you don't want to find.

It was a disgrace, but so are the group running the "investigation"

At every test in 2012 every single player denied taking any substances or medicines to ASADA test takers. Failed to declare it whilst being required it. Players hid program and alleged to be part of the conspiracy.

An AFL hack has had a crack at picking Essendon's R1 team, looking at what top up players they may go for - including one Brian Lake.

Wonder how all this will affect the Essendon board's decision to try and bring Herd back into the fold.

Re: ASADA issues show-cause notices to Essendon players

Aside from this, the other scandals of drugs being fairly widespread through a club (recreational admittedly) I can recall have been WCE in the mid 2000s (Cousins, Kerr, Chick, Gardiner, Fletcher, etc) and GCS in the last couple of years (Hunt, Bennell, a bunch of others at the post-season bender).

Essendon's senior coaching staff to right the ship this year are John Worsfold, assisted by Guy McKenna.

            You couldn't write this stuff.....

Betting markets on wooden spoon suspended. For anyone who had money on Essendon, congratulations.

Silly bookies who offered decent odds. This was hardly unpredictable.

Bad news for bookies looking to lay off their bets.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

Hopefully Jobe will show some ticker and hand his medal back voluntarily.

I used to feel sorry for the players for being stupid and ignorant and now I realise I was stupid to believe they were naive. Dirty cheating bastards.

That will make excellent viewing, especially Robbo's exasperation.

Whateley turned a lot of people around on this with his delicate dissection of Hird last year. 6.40 to 8.40 on the above is a masterclass in interviewing.

I'll watch just to see Robbo's head literally explode akin to a sledge hammer being swung into a water melon. I'm not sure how he will excuse every single ASADA tester being told nothing about any substances by every player the whole year when they're required to tell them about trivial panadol or vitamin use. Every single player at Essendon all failed to declare the substances despite the clear rules and that being explained to them all. That implicates the players as do the text messages sourced. So Robbo, over to you to explain it...

Ultimately the right result for the game prevailed today. Will have to cop it sweet. Stweie is an important part of our team and it hurts a lot but he didn't do the right thing and now his paying the price.

Until I see actual evidence a miscarriage of justice has taken place and because we don't like the victim we all shrug our shoulders and say "oh well". When they try and railroad us (and they will, they have a taste for AFL clubs now, these bastards will see cheap political points dangling in front of them) will it be too much then?
You can be suspended for not showing up to a drug test. WADA doesn't have to prove anyone guilty but if you break the protocol you're done.

It's amazing what can be achieved when investigators are serious, are actually interested in finding information and don't take the "dog ate my homework" excuse.
