AFL and Essendon should be shamed mercilessly for this. The guy was 18 at the time. Only tried to find out what exactly he was injected with. Now they intend to push him over the edge. They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.Comment

AFL and EFC (and AFLPA) are hoping the 12 left at Essendon return next year, but surely stuff like this make that next to impossible. I've heard talk 5 or more will be launching actions sooner rather than later and will definitely elsewhere next year.Comment

And they still have the audacity to maintain that player welfare is foremost in their concerns. I hope he cleans them out and plenty of the others join in too.

Yes. Delisted Free Agents - so EFC (thankfully) don't even get compensatory draft picks. It's gonna be quite a shitstorm through the year as it becomes more apparent AA quality players like Hooker, Heppell, Hurley etc are on the market and available for free - hope they lose all 12.Comment

The similarities between how the AFL runs and the Chinese government works is scary.
No in-bound communication. You can't call them and register a complaint. They will contact you.
They have their own media channels and anointed spokespeople.
They are completely right ( Tanking, supplements) even when the facts stare them in the face - because they are the AFL.
All free speech is stifled. If I go to the footy with a banner that says the wrong thing, I'm out.
Dare to oppose them in court if you want. Good luck.
The culture that surrounds them is so fanatical you can't get any air-time.You don't develop courage by being happy in your relationships every day. You develop it by surviving difficult times and challenging adversity. ― EpicurusComment

Re: ASADA issues show-cause notices to Essendon players
Would have been nice if the reporter from the Essendon Daily asked Hird these questions before putting the article to print:
1. Who had Dank and Robinson over at their house to discuss the set up of the Program?
2. Who met with Charter on the Gold Coast?
3. Who was verbally told about issues regarding the program by Dr Reid?
4. Who was frustrated the program was stopped by Reid?
5. Who was Dr Reid's letter addressed too?
6. Who was involved in the meeting regarding the consent forms with players?
7. Who was receiving texts from Dank regarding the program?
8. Once the protocols were put in place who did Reid have to give recommendations regarding substances?Comment

Maybe they have to do this tactically (in their minds) as a message to any other drugged players who are considering legal action.
According to a well connected guy on BF, 6 players will sue the club (5 are currently there). The fight is here; I need ammunition, not a ride.Comment

That was in the paper this morning. It said that six players are advanced with plane for seperate actions with 5 of them keen to go sooner rather than later. If it were me I'd be getting in ASAP and getting my award ASAP before EFC goes broke. Or enters into a scheme where they pay out so much in the dollar. St Kilda did it in the 1980s when they were close to bankruptcy. They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.Comment

"These concerns were written in a letter from Dr Reid addressed to Hamilton and myself.
Unfortunately, I was not given a copy of this letter and did not see this letter until over a year after it was written."
Doesn't stack up. Senior coaches are so wary of supplements and drugs in sport. If you knew the club doc was putting something in writing regards illegal supplements, and you didn't get it, you would chase it up.Western Bulldogs Football Club "Where it's cool to drool"Comment
