Their cap issues may cost them their promising young ruck too after the Saints put a $1.2m contract in his face for 3 years.
Bombers have made some big signings in recent years.Western Bulldogs: 2016 PremiersComment

So I have no idea how they come to that conclusion as they will also lose players due to his cap management.Bring back the biffComment

From afel.com.au
Recruiters split on 2020 draft. The key part is that clubs may not want later picks next year (which we want for points), and clubs may fight to get better first round picks, so we can grab a great deal to swap firsts next year like I’ve been banging on about for a few months. GWS would be best, with something this year likely Brisbane or maybe WCE (if they give up on Kelly) with our first & third.
Timing is great for us with JUH & Macca and draft strength.
From the article:
That's where clubs who haven't got any players coming through next year are in a good position, because their picks might be more valuable for other clubs to try to get off them before next year."
There's a few in this camp. The Western Bulldogs have first call on Jamarra Ugle-Hagan, a tall indigenous forward who is tied to them through their Next Generation and who shapes as an early selection.Rocket Science: the epitaph for the Beveridge era - whenever it ends - reading 'Here lies a team that could beat anyone on its day, but seldom did when it mattered most'. 15/7/2023Comment

Regardless of how this year ends, we are on the cusp of accruing a talent base that is better than we've ever had.Comment

If you download the NAB League app, you can view his season highlights. Round 10 v Calder is especially good, just slotting them from everywhere. Special talent. Our 1954 premiership players are our heroes, and it has to be said that Charlie was their hero.Comment

At the same time we need to get and stay consistent, while our KPPs are solid to dam exciting, our midfield group is rated by the AFEL coaches as the best in the league (and youngest) and get our skills up and a goal kicking right.
If we were a trading stock, you'd be buying up big time.Rocket Science: the epitaph for the Beveridge era - whenever it ends - reading 'Here lies a team that could beat anyone on its day, but seldom did when it mattered most'. 15/7/2023Comment

Re: BT's very, very, very, very early list management thread 2019-2020
In the next 15 months we look like hopefully acquiring 3-4 players from Martin, King, Tomlinson, Keath, Tippa, Hill, Langdon (hope not) as well as JUH & MacPherson (any other FS or NGAs) and more kids and targeted trades. Not losing too many elite players to retirement, Wood, Trengove, Suckling etc.

This trade period looms large in adding the gaps that should enable it to come together.
Power earns his stripes big time if he can land at least 2 of the key targets you've highlighted. For mine, Martin and Keath/Tomlinson head the list, with Tippa next.
King would be nice, but still has a further 2-3 years before he is a dominator.
Earlier in the year there was scuttlebutt around a Carlton key defender being on our radar...is that still being heard? If so, I'd love it to be Weitering. He'd be a beautiful fit for a Beveridge type key defender, agile and versatile.Comment

They just signed said ruck for 4 years - maybe its not as bad as first thought, or maybe they're resigned to losing Tippa. Who knows.- I'm a visionary - Only here to confirm my biases -Comment

Francis is a terrible swingman but decent backman, then they have Hooker as well.
I think we squeeze them and Tippa signs for more than Essendon first offered.Western Bulldogs: 2016 PremiersComment

On Hurley the scuttle butt is that he and Hooker were voted into the leadership group by the players and then removed by senior Essendon officials prior to the season starting.
Hurley was extremely annoyed at this.More of an In Bruges guy?Comment
