Re: 2023 Draft Watch
We have positioned ourselves nicely at the top part of the draft and that has narrowed down the likely players we have in our sights.
The two main candidates:
There is certainly a gap on our playing list for a small forward and an exciting player like Nick Watson would be an ideal acquisition.
He's been a sensational player in the Talent league for the last 2 years and apparently he's right on the radar of a couple of clubs.
The knock on him is his lack of height but it's not really a factor here because we should be focusing on how he is likely to fit in as a small ground level performer to compliment our tall forwards and from that end he should be a great fit.
There is also a spot on our playing list for a quality midfielder and Ryley Sanders would address that in a big way. He performed brilliantly for the Allies and for the Sandringham Dragons this year and has a good inside/outside balance.
I think he is our safety pick if Watson is selected before beforehand.
What else is around:
Our interest and links with Luamon Lual has been well documented but the way he finished the season would have caught the eye of some other clubs. If we were to miss out on Watson I suspect Jack Delean might be the mix to add to our forward line options. If we are looking to add some midfield depth then there is an outside chance that George Stevens could still be available and given he training with us along with Croft and Lual earlier this year we would know him better than most.
Kade De La Rue is a midfielder we could also have on the radar.
Where Croft gets bid on could shape our later picks and I'd imagine the list management is working through a number of scenarios.Western Bulldogs Football Club "Where it's cool to drool"Comment

Re: 2023 Draft Watch
Nope.
Pure inside mid, although he'd probably form that logjam of HFF/mids early in his development.
I would consider him if we got Watson early. If we took Sanders I'd rather target others needs late in the draft.Western Bulldogs: 2016 PremiersComment

Re: 2023 Draft Watch
In time they might transition into a more permanent midfielder and I was hoping McAuliffe might have the ability to do that given the combination of his speed, athleticism and kicking skills.Western Bulldogs Football Club "Where it's cool to drool"Comment

Hawthorn has flown Dan Curtin over to Melbourne to interview him today at their headquarters. Right in the mix for pick 4 if the Roos overlook him.
Hawthorn's final round of interviews always kept to the last week. Connor O'Sullivan also at Hawks today for a last chat. @AFLcomau
If the Hawks have a genuine focus on Curtin it will almost certainly increase our chances of bringing in Watson.
I wouldn't mind betting that the Hawks also make a play for Geelongs pick 8.Western Bulldogs Football Club "Where it's cool to drool"Comment

Re: 2023 Draft Watch
Lual being linked to GWS in the first round.
– Exciting medium defender and Bulldogs NGA prospect Luamon Lual looms as a possible first-round chance. Lual, who was runner-up in the GWV Rebels’ best and fairest and earned selection in the Coates Talent League Team of the Year, has been linked to the Giants’ second first-round pick, but also has interest from clubs with early second-round picks.

Re: 2023 Draft Watch
Yep, If teams are genuinely that interested in him they should go hard at getting him.
I was hoping we could bring in Croft, Lual and Stevens in as they all trained with us earlier in the year but Lual does seem to have some suitors.Western Bulldogs Football Club "Where it's cool to drool"Comment
