    Re: 2023 List Management Thread

I mentioned most fans at all clubs would want a deeper clean than they actually get. Collingwood going better than anyone. Looking at their list, these are the guys I think most Collingwood fans who get into list management convos would want/ who our fans would want cut if they were on our list/ guys most of our fans would be strongly against recruiting for nothing):

    - Bianco
    - Krueger
    - Draper
    - Kelly
    - Ruscoe
    - McInness
    - Richards
    - WHE
    - Carmichael
    - Markov*
    - Cox*

*would have been against recruiting last year.

I think Cox is more or less the same as he has been for a while. I've rated more than most as a R2/F previously, then probably thought he was a bit overrated earlier in the year. A guy who looks much better in a side that's structured very well. That's not meant to be an insult and actually not easy, need the type.

Well we know JOD is being fast tracked, but I fear Buss is still way off due to lack of preseason (shoulder issue). From what I have seen at FB, he looks to have some great potential

Hoping second year players make a noticeable impact isn’t the greatest strategy. We appear to have put depth in Keath & TOB. But really need someone to trade in to impact as per your McKay thread discussion. Take Darcy, immense talent, but not much of a second year due to injuries. I think it’s a bonus if they come on next year. I hope we’ve got someone lined up to make an impact.

Whilst Buss might not be ready for senior footy, he isn't alone being a first year KPD. Factoring in the heavily disrupted pre-season, I think it has been an overall positive first year from him.

I definitely has issues/fears about our list but an important factor is a lot of our early picks/promising young players are KPPs, which take longer to develop. Darcy, Buss, even Marra still. I guess we need to make sure that 1/ they develop to fullest potential and 2/what we have around them is quality if they do.

I imagine he'd play more of an intercept role if/when he debuts. It's the kind of player we desperately need and if he gets a taste and works out the level he needs to get to surely even if he gets donuts it will help his pre-season.

I wouldn't mind if he debuted against West Coast - wouldn't hurt

Yeah, it most certainly isn't, but whatever we project out of O'Donnell & Busslinger they're the basket where all our next-gen key back eggs reside, barring some highly unlikely offseason coup.

The alternative is rolling with more of the present and we're familiar with what we'll get from everyone not names Jones, who'll be 33 come the season opener, and we need better *checks age profile of our first-choice mids*, fast.

Honestly I'd rather build within. Unless we're getting an absolute gun player I hope we pass on the retreads. We don't seem to be able to attract the talent externally, hit the draft build our depth, oursleves, and lets go from there. We're a middle of the range team, a 2024 version of Tim O'Brien isn't going to help us at all.

O'Donnell set for 2 year extension

Paul Amy has mentioned Dogs interest in Ewan Macpherson & Josh Chatfield but I can't find the link.

I guess we aren’t taking kids in the rookie draft again.

                      JOD must be very happy.

His arrival at the club and selection in the seniors so quickly is the stuff of dreams. It's such an interesting story.

I still think Ewan McPherson could make a decent BP player

I thought so as well a couple of years back but I don't think he's fit or quick enough now.

Does he stay as a Cat B rookie? If not we've jumped the gun once again.

Yes. He can stay for up to three years there. If he agrees to stay there and give the club an extra spot elsewhere. Hopefully that’s the plan.
