Re: 2023 List Management Thread
His father took about 5 years to develop into a mobile ruckman and he backed up Scott Wynd for a while.
Sam is physically under developed and not as mobile as his father. I think most big bodied ruckman would like the idea of being pitted against Sam and would make sure he's on the business end of some physical contact.
He will get there in time but he's currently not the ruckman that you initially suggested.Western Bulldogs Football Club "Where it's cool to drool"Comment

But he is the '18-19yo kid' that BAD suggested we need. His father took about 5 years to develop into a mobile ruckman and he backed up Scott Wynd for a while.

Fully agree we need to replace Sweet with an experienced ruck though, if he goes.
English, Sweet/replacement, Lobb, Darcy. I don't think another 18yo makes a difference, if it's just for the sake of numbers.Comment

Re: 2023 List Management Thread
Never said he will ruck next year but if you want a developing ruck why recruit another? By all mean yes recruit a mature aged Sweet replacement if he goes but not a rookie as well that has 5 years to go when you have one 2 years in.His father took about 5 years to develop into a mobile ruckman and he backed up Scott Wynd for a while.

Re: 2023 List Management Thread
It's not a bad suggestion to add another younger ruckman when you consider Lobb's age and probably durability if he was required to ruck multiple games, a likely godfather offer coming for Tim English and Sweets likely departure.
Yes, grab a more mature state league player or someone on the outer at another club because it makes a lot of sense but I'd prefer Darcy be a fair way down the pecking order for a while yet before seeing if his best position is as a ruck man or a relief ruck.Western Bulldogs Football Club "Where it's cool to drool"Comment

Re: 2023 List Management Thread
I feel like you should always have a developing ruck on the list - and that could often be on a rookie list. Sometimes you'd put a few years into them and they wouldn't work out, or they'd walk, but sometimes they'd be at the right place at the right time.Comment

Pretty sure MJP has said this forever, which I agree on.FFC: Established 1883

Re: 2023 List Management Thread
Barrett suggesting that Goldstein won't be at North next year, I'd be interested if Sweet decides to go.
He'd be a one-year option but is actually the kind of mobile ruck that Beveridge likes to play and could plug straight in if English was injured.
I'd also like to add a developing young ruck to the list, but Goldstein would be decent cover for English.Comment

Re: 2023 List Management Thread
Yeah - but so what if they walk? Backup rucks are always worth overs on the trade market. If your backup leaves for more opportunity, then the developing ruck becomes the backup and you draft a new one to develop...
I just can't see a single negative to taking a new developing RUCK every year...What should I tell her? She's going to ask.Comment

AFL standard, just had some mental demons to battle. Playing at Williamstown. The ideal back-up ruck.Western Bulldogs: 2016 PremiersComment

I can't see Goldy being keen to likely play the majority year in the VFL, he would probably just retire.Barrett suggesting that Goldstein won't be at North next year, I'd be interested if Sweet decides to go.
