Re: Recent Gigs & Upcoming ones

Last Sunday Mark Gardener from Ride was excellent. Old Ride stuff is untouchable and his newer songs good. His support band was Sky Parade whichs features the ex The Brian Jonestown Massacre bassist Tommy Dietrich. Played all the Ride stuff well as well as their own set.

I went last night to the Substation in Newport to see Graveyard Train. Very entertaining. Venue is a bit strange.

News coming through this morning of another ATP festival in Australia.
Twodogs and myself really enjoying the last one at mt buller a few years back.

The venue this time is close but it's a shithole.
I'll Be Your Mirror, February 16-17, Westgate Entertainment Centre and Grand Star Reception, Dohertys Road Altona North. Tickets $250 +b/f, or $135 +b/f for single-day passes
Saturday is curated by ATP and has My bloody Valentine with many others
Sunday is curated by the Drones with them, beasts of bourbon(original lineup) and others.

Did you get to see Ride when they came to Australia during their early 90's heydey? Once of my great regrests missing that gig, which was supposedly amazing. Their first 2 albums are up there with the best first 2 albums any band has released.

Their self titled album is by far the most popular though with 4 nights in Melbourne sold out! Looking forward to hearing what next years Soundwave lineup will be too.
Soundwave is becoming the main rock festival in Australia now. The Big Day Out has a bit of every genre of music. Headlining Soundwave 2013 will be Metallica along with Linkin Park, Blink 182, A Perfect Circle, The Offspring, Paramore, Garbage, Tomahawk just to name a few.

Thanks mate, just found it as well. $187 per ticket is really good value. I've got no doubt I would have shelled out more on tickets to Metallica and APC if they were doing sideshows which they are not. Better go along to this one.

No I missed it too. The song Leave them all behind is one of my all time favourites.
Missed a few of that shoegaze generation, probably Swervedriver was one I did see at the time.

Saw them at the RRR rooftop in 1997, one of my favourite gigs of all time. So underrated, Mezcal Head and Raise are brilliant albums.

                      Yes.
Teenage fanclub would be another brit band from the time I loved.
Stupidly declined an invite to see Jesus and Mary chain early 90s.

I was completely mental for Teenage Fanclub. Close to the favourite band of my teens.

Same here but I'm a bit older.
The bandwagonese album was all time fav.
A lot of good music around that time much better than the 80s.

Yes, will definately be trying for tickets for this one. Metallica are brilliant live & I've wanted to see Anthrax for awhile now. Linkin Park were also great live in 2010, will try to see them at Soundwave if they don't clash with someone else I want to see! And there's still a 2nd announcement to come.

Elvis tribute show at The Gem - planets aligned to allow me to attend and avoid having to go to Moe for work on Saturday night. And my sister is back and a certain traveller I'm chasing. Fate being kind to me this week
