Re: Recent Gigs & Upcoming ones

Speaking of the Corner Hotel, we walked past after the Storm game on Saturday night and saw a huge line up, many people dressed as pirates. After checking the board saw that UK band Alestorm were playing. We hadn't heard of them before so we googled. They are a folk metal band from Scotland, with a pirate theme so have been dubbed as "Pirate Metal". Looked to have a big following.

Loved Boy and Bear, and got a great vantage point this time so I could actually see them (damn being a shorty ). Whaddidya think Soupaman?

Have now booked tickets for Noah and the Whale (Splendour Sideshow) and Children Collide.

Good luck, for your sake I hope heaven and hell are really there, but I wouldn't hold my breath

Re: Recent Gigs & Upcoming ones

Not sure tbh. Voice sounded amazing, but I've quickly come to the realisation that seeing a band based on 1 and a half ep's means a lot of new material, especially when two of the songs you do know don't get a run. They sounded good, i just expected a bit more energy. I think "feeding Line' was the best song of the night because unlike so many other songs it made them all loosen up and look excited. Thats why i like them, they seem like a fun campfire band, he has an awesome voice and I love it when they kick up the tempo and have all the singalong bits like the "yeeawww" in Blood to Gold, or the backup singing in Rabbit Song (which was good last night). The new song "the Beach" was also impressive, as was the first song. I would like to see them again once the album has come out but I think they can take a leaf out of their supports acts set and get some more excitement into their show.

Jinja Safari were much better than i expected based off the one song i knew prior. Heaps of energy, lots of fun drum bits and while some of their songs sound a little bit too similiar I thought they were really impressive and am considering going to their headline concert at the same venue.
I should leave it alone but you're not right

Did you enjoy Jinja Safari? They're playing the Corner in July and one of their support acts is a band a mate likes so I'll be going to see them again.

Also Liam Finn has just announced he is playing the Corner too, so I'll go check that one out.

Re: Recent Gigs & Upcoming ones

Just got back from the Hypnotic Brass Ensemble at the forum.
Great show, they rocked it and they were great performers. Better than expected and easily worth it. The came out into the foyer at the end and had to talk to everyone around, and seemed like great people as well, so i rated it as a great gig.

Better yet, as it was part of the Jazz fest, who did i see there, but big Will Minson. He was there with a couple of friends and Bob Murph(who left early)
Also had a talk to him after the gig, and he's a genuinely nice guy, got a photo with him and he was more than happy to talk (didn't ask him about the team) about Sonny Rollins and a few other things.
Geez though, as expected he is a big guy

I did like JS, but I only caught about half of the set (too busy gas-bagging whilst eating dinner upstairs). I recognised a couple of songs which surprised me too. Pretty good stuff.

These guys are touring in September.
I suggest heading along if you enjoy good music.

I'll be there. You'll find its a name change from 'The Ennio Morricone Experience'.

Foo Fighters and Tenacious D touring in December together.

My two favourite bands ever playing the same show. Absolutely Stoked!!!

It's at AAMI Park which is an open roofed stadium I believe? should be very awesome. Gotta get tickets next week!

Not particularly roofed. Those dome things extended over most of the stands but the field itself is generally uncovered.

Got the Mars Volta in about a month. As much as i'm looking forward to seeing them again (one of my favourite bands) i'm not as much looking to seeing the bands new style.
Without Ikey De-loused music will suffer, they haven't been able to play Frances (clearly my favorite album) or Amp without Adrian and the new stuff can't compare with those 3 albums
