Anyway looking forward to a Whigs sideshow announcement.
I saw the Pumpkins play at Rod Laver on their Ava Adore tour.. Worst concert ever.

Agree that Splendour looks good... be intersted to see how At the drive In go.. they were pretty wicked first time around.

Went to Bleeding Knees Club last night, was absolutely wild.

They can't really play (the lead singer/guitar had to get the dude from the support act (Dune Rats, they were fantastic) to tune his guitar for him), but was the most fun I've ever had at a gig.

Highlight was when the boogie boards came out for crowd surfing; fantastic.

Of course; musical talent isn't always a pre-requisite for good sounding music.

I would say technical proficiency isn't always a pre-requisite for good sounding music. Rock music has always relied as much on the energy of the act as the ability to play the right notes in the right spots.

Had two very different experiences at The Palais in the past fortnight. Jay & Silent Bob Get Old was as crass and funny as you might expect, while City & Colour were stunning. Dallas Green is a charming guy with a great voice, and the good grace to bat away the idiotic 'bing back Alexis' calls from the crowd. I was embarassed at times by the crowd.

What night did you see city and colour? I went Wed night and the crowd was awful. Not only saying bring back Alexis but with the yelling out between every song.

Yeah that was the night I was there - one of the dumbest things I've heard yelled at a gig....'if you were gay, I'd maybe swing that way' Dallas' response (glad you got that out of your system) saved the moment from being totally awkward. Cringe.

I got told a crowd in London was worse - he had to tell them to shut up apparently.

                  Sounded good though didn't it?

Went to see Mikelangelo and the Tin Star last night, awesome surfy-guitar stuff, bit rockabilly too. Sounds like a Clint Eastwood movie set in Hawaii.

Big feature of the night was a guest guitarist sporting a no joke 30cm-high quiff that was almost in Marge Simpson territory.

Saw them after Spaghetti Western Orchestra last year, they are surf-western dynamos. Loved it.

Frank Turner this week should be a ripper.

Yeah other than the crowd it was an awesome night. For some reason I'm always surprised at how good he is.
