Re: Recent Gigs & Upcoming ones
Going to see Arcade Fire & Mumford & Sons in Hyde Park over the (English) summer. That'll be a good gig. Take a half day off work, head down early doors, a couple of cans over a bit of a picnic/kick of the footy/couple more cans then in to the gates for a great vibe. London summertime gigs. Unreal.
What's a beer at a gig in Oz cost these days? Looking upwards of £4.50 - £5 for a pint at some UK gigs now.Comment

Re: Recent Gigs & Upcoming ones
Michael Franti & Spearhead last night were terrific. Such a great high energy show, they manage to make the most ridiculously positive and preachy music work, no cynicism felt on my behalf just a few hours of genuine joy. Love them.
Bob Dylan tonight. A lot of respect for a great man such as he, not sure what to expect though.Time and Tide Waits For No ManComment

Re: Recent Gigs & Upcoming ones
I went to see Mavis Staples and the Blind Boys of Alabama with Aaron Neville last night.
I'm not very churchy but it was an excellent shop. They really know how to entertain. Much of it the James Brown scene in the Blues Brothers. Musicianship and singing first class.
Mavis's latest album is written and produced by Jeff Tweedy for you Wilco fans.
Aaron Neville voice so angelic for someone that looks he is straight out jail.Comment

Must say how much I enjoyed Boogie Festival last weekend. Great location, smallish numbers and some very good acts.
My highlight was You am I doing covers that included Pink Floyd, Teenage Fanclub, Big Starr, Bob Dylan and Rolling Stones.Comment

Re: Recent Gigs & Upcoming ones
Fort opened - haven't seen them for a few years but they were in good form, Andy seemed absolutely chuffed to be supporting Kyuss and Deon was as busy and hard hitting as ever on the skins. They played a couple of songs from their first EP too which was a nice surprise, and started with the first part of "Intro" from their album In a New Light on loop, the band cutting in to open with Ghosttrain.
Kyuss were incredible. I think after about 6 or 7 songs there was a moment when about 30 of us all looked at each other and without saying it all thought "holy **** this is incredible" at exactly the same time. Garcia's voice sounded good (a hint more gravelly than recorded material, but good gravelly), Nick does backing vocals, Bruno really can play and Brant hits hard. Played all the more popular stuff (not really a singles/releases band) and even with no 50 million year trip or Demon Cleaner, it was hard to complain about the song choices. Supa Scoopa & Mighy Scoop & 100 degrees were frenetic, the first non-instrumental Gardenia was met with rabid approval, and Thumb was brilliant.
Freedom Run & El Rodeo were played which is what most wanted to hear.
I really wish I was going to the Melbourne gig - I would pay again in a heartbeat if I could get a ticket. I thought it would be hard to beat FOTL's show in January as my gig of the year but Kyuss managed.Western Bulldogs: 2016 PremiersComment

Re: Recent Gigs & Upcoming ones
Just read on the Triple M website that Van Halen are headlining Soundwave Revolution on Friday 30th September. I think I might have to go just to see them, especially as David Lee Roth is singing. Alice Cooper might also be worth a look.

Re: Recent Gigs & Upcoming ones
Yeah, I haven't seen Alice Cooper before so this is a good chance. Hopefully I can get tickets. Saw Van Halen when they toured with Gary Cherone, but would rather see Diamond Dave out front. I really really hope they play Hot for Teacher!!Comment

Re: Recent Gigs & Upcoming ones
Michael Anthony has been out of the band since Roth rejoined. Due to the Sammy hagar issues with the band, Michael is Sammy's best friend, so that caused friction between him and Eddie. Even VH guitar hero has Wolfgang in the animation instead of MichaelI will never see #16 the same!!Comment
