Have their first album, like it a lot.

Saw The Shins last night at Festival Hall - lots of fun. Closed out the show with a 10 minute wig out, yet Sea Legs didn't feature in the set - a little strange, but a good show nevertheless. Lots more energy then I expected, and some very funny 'dancing' from members of the crowd around us.

Husky were a solid support as well.

      Band of Skulls on Thursday.

Heading to see a band called The Hello Morning on Friday the 3rd of August at the Northcote Social Club.

Great local band from Melbourne having their album launch, have only recently got into these guys and am really looking forward to the gig.

        Any other fans out there?

Going to the Hi Fi to see the Afghan Whigs tomorrow night. Very much looking forward to seeing one of my all-time favourite bands.

Anyone planning on going to go and see Weezer in January? I'm torn. I used to be a massive fan but they have put out mainly shit for the past couple of albums.

I think they are playing the Blue album in it's entirety, which would make it an essential gig. That album still sounds fantastic today 18 years after it was released (shit I feel old sometimes).

              Agreed.
Featival hall turns me off a bit.

Will 95% be there if work holds my job, Blue Album in full would be unmissable, and it also ensures they'd play none of their other trash they put out later

This looks incredible, unfortunately the dates don't work for me but would be an amazing experience. We could really take notes from the Europeans on how to do a festival.

Having said that, what do you make of the Falls lineup? Looks pretty killer so far

I want to go now. Listen to the blue album, some off Pinkerton, hash pipe then go.

Ja, I need to fit something with my uni-break mid year so that's sadly out (have heard good things). I'd probably hit up Guca festival if Uni wasn't an issue.

Roskilde is always available too. Too many options.

PS - Kyuss show 4 August, want to go if I can get out of work.

Thinking of going Thursday week to The substation at Newport to see the Graveyard train.
Local gigs are great and a band I don't mind.

I'll be going. What is the venue like?
More of an In Bruges guy?

                              Biggish. Seats. Reasonable.
                              Can't beat a local venue.

Outstanding. Played for nearly 2 hours, setlist mainly from Gentlemen, Black Love and 1965. They were very tight and the sound was mostly good, although the keyboardist also played some the world's most pointless inaudible cello & violin parts. I've been waiting a long time to see them, nearly had tears in my eyes when they walked out and started "Crime Scene Part One". Lighting was mostly bloody awful.
You've also never seen mid-20's girls flock to a middle age man like when Dulli, came out into the crowd to sing a song.
