I’m going to see Low Life at the damn Opera House in a couple of weeks, which is mind blowing considering last time I saw them their bass drum pedal broke and they had to get a guy from the crowd to hit it with a drumstick on beat.

That's about the most rock and roll thing not involving drugs I've ever heard.

Drugs probably had a run, just not in this part of the story.

First time I saw Dinosaur Jr J Mascis announced he couldn't be bothered playing his guitar so audience members stood in front of the stage and played his guitar.

I saw the Meanies once at the Tote.. They started their first song and about 15 seconds in they realised that the bass player wasn't on stage with them. Linky asked where he was and finally they found him serving drinks at the bar. They got him onstage and started up again but Wally didn't actually have his bass with him. He'd left it behind the bar.

They find Wally's bass and halfway through reprising the first song (it was Big Bertha from memory) for the third time but the crowd start yelling that they couldn't hear the bass. Turns out that Wally hadn't plugged it into his amp. Plug the bass in and away they go again a string on Wally's bass breaks so Wally says "*!*!*!*!ing useless piece of shit" and smashes it on the floor.

So after talking through what they should do they decide to go and ask the support band's bass player (Guttersnipes) if Wally could use his bass. He said "what happened to Wally's bass?" and they said "he got frustrated and broke it" so the Guttersnipes bass player said "so Wally has smashed his own bass and now you want me to let him use mine? That'd be a big no"

I don't remember what happened in the end.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

I have seen Dinosaur Jr so many times (I'm actually wearing my Dinosaur Jr jumper right this second) and this doesn't surprise me in the slightest.

Last time I saw them Lou Barlow was obviously in a mood and basically told a bunch of dudes in the front row to *!*!*!*! off and not come back. Rock and roll.

Were there any woofers at the Van Halen / Eddie gig at the corner hotel on Thursday night?

Japanese funk lords Osaka Monaurail at the Night Cat were effing sensational last Thursday. Featuring a couple of ex James Brown players. Even better my son played keys & went on tour with them.

Did you get to walk past the queue and casually say "my name's on the band list. It's the Doctor plus 1"

yes, but I paid anyway. Performing arts need all the help they can get after what they have been through.
