Shame that Shaun was dismissed in fairly soft fashion because it was a very good knock. Lots of graft and grit

Marsh was outstanding today. Another impressive day by the Aussies, hopefully we can push the lead to 100+ tomorrow.

        Re: 2017 Tour of India

Kind of amazing Mitch gets a game in the top 6 when his average with the bat is 22. It's not like he hasn't had plenty of opportunities to correct that figure either.

Less than Starc now at 25.

          Re: 2017 Tour of India

If Mitch gets selected for the next game it's a travesty, sure he got a horrible delivery that would knock over most batsmen but he has had so many opportunities and clearly is not doing his job. He's been under-used as a bowler so his place in the team as an all-rounder is completely unjustified.

There's been a massive turn around with this team with the inclusion of blokes like Renshaw and Handscomb and the faith that Steve Smith has found in his spinners, especially Lyon. Twelve months ago we thought we could bully Sri Lanka over there and got rolled. We need to sustain the grit and determination we are showing on the field but we need it off the field as well and continue to select young players with talent and not keep searching for this mythological all-rounder. Pick an extra batsman or an extra bowler to suit anticipated conditions. Starc is doing a mighty job of providing for the all-rounder position anyway!
But then again, I'm an Internet poster and Bevo is a premiership coach so draw your own conclusions.

We had this same all rounder obsession a decade and more ago which explains Andrew Symons international career. But we had Gilchrist which gave us the flexibility to pick an extra bowler knowing we batted right down to 7. We kept picking Symons who was OK and we could probably afford to indulge ourselves and carry him sometimes when his form didn't command it but he wasn't exactly Keith Miller
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

Surprisingly Symonds had a test average of 40, something Mitch can only dream of.

Yep Mitch can't even average 30 in first class cricket.

LOL. Shows you had good we had it back then that we complained at a guy getting 40.

Far out. That is surprising. Keith Miller's average was almost 37 but he probably had Symo covered with his bowling, 170 at almost 22.97 is pretty good.

I posted this earlier in the thread. Yes Marsh has a terrible record, so not sure why he is in the team.

Absolutely fantastic article - sums up Kohli's arrogant and entitled attitude and how it has rubbed off on the rest of his team in this series (with a nice little drive-by on Michael Clarke in the process )

A lead of 87. Interesting to see if that's enough with the pitch going into the last innings.

That's like a lead of 150 on a normal pitch - this one is misbehaving on length as well as spin. Will take some extraordinary batting from the Indians to put pressure on us on the 4th innings.
