You're a more trusting person than me or, I suspect, those at WADA then Ozza.

I'm all for them training/supporting each other as a group, but having Little financing/organizing it is courting disaster.

If the Russian sprint team wanted to train as a group through their ban and the guy in charge of the Athletics Federation at the time of the ban said he pay for it all, I reckon WADA might just look at that as organised training.

If Little funds their organised group training and WADA informs Crameri and the others a week later that their 2 year ban has recommenced, what then?

Why run that risk or place that threat over the players heads? They need to move on from that world not stay trapped in it.

I suspect that in any circumstance, the players would be getting ASADA/WADA approval of any organised training.
And with only 12 of the 34 players being current Essendon players, and Malthouse being an independent coach - not employed by any club currently, I think that part of it is reasonable.

The safest funding scenario I guess would be for the AFLPA to be footing the cost.

I'm all in favour of the players keeping up their training regime, but I think they should cover the costs themselves. How much does Mick Malthouse want to get paid for this, anyway?

The irony is that Little made a large part of his fortune suing people.

He actually made his fortune by building Toll Group to be the biggest transport company in Australia. Recently Toll was taken over by Japan Post and he sold his shares to double his existing fortune.

Little is also in the news today for donating $1 million to the Melbourne Theatre Company.

Strange that it's the exact amount being bandied about for the Malthouse idea. Maybe he's looking to broaden the horizons of 34 mates he's trying to help out - maybe an updated version of The Club

So now we have a Senator pressuring the Prime Minister to release confidential documents relating to the Australian Crime Commission's investigation into the EFC programme, including transcripts of a 2 day interview with Stephen Dank. Couldn't begin to speculate what can of worms could be opened up there.

17 past, present Bombers to train together this week, but not with Mick Malthouse

THE banned past and present Essendon players on AFL lists in 2016 are set to have their first group training session this week — but it won’t be under Mick Malthouse’s watchful eye.

Western Bulldogs coach Luke Beveridge revealed on Tuesday that his suspended forward Stewart Crameri, as well as the 16 other AFL-listed players banned by the Court of Arbitration for Sport, would train together in this week.
“We’re just trying to mobilise a third party to get something going for Stewy, which we can’t really impact on,” Beveridge said.

“It appears they’re going to have their first session later on in the week, so there’s something happening and Stewy’s keen to maintain his fitness base and get ready for the possibility that he might rejoin us if the appeal’s successful.”
Three-time premiership coach Malthouse earlier this month flagged a proposal to run an organised training program for the 17 players through their year-long suspension away from their clubs.

Six of those players reportedly met with Malthouse at his house a week ago.
But Beveridge said Malthouse, who worked with the Dogs coach at Collingwood, wouldn’t be taking this week’s session.
“The players are making that choice and I think that’s driven by the Essendon boys, so whatever they decide will happen and we can’t really influence,” Beveridge said.

“Stewy’s really keen to get involved in it and they’ll be able to train together as group because you need people to kick the footy with.”
Beveridge said he was keen for Crameri to maintain his fitness levels during his time away from the Bulldogs.

“There are certain things that Stewy needs to improve on with his footy to prepare himself for when he comes back,” Beveridge said.
“We’ve been cognisant of the fact he’s already had a lay-off and we’ve quite anxious around the Players’ Association getting something ready for the group — the Essendon boys, Stewy and the boys from the other clubs — if they’re keen for them to train together, because it’s really the only group that they can train with.”

I'm not sure the ACC stuff could provide an escape clause. Sounds to me more like somebody wanting to see those who deserve the biggest whacks to be further exposed (at least I hope).

I'm thinking someone, who considers themselves important, believes the we didn't do anything wrong line from Essendon and thinks exposing the stuff that the AFL tribunal had will exonerate everyone.

I would think it is more likely to be further damning, but I am just a cynic.
