Re: ASADA issues show-cause notices to Essendon players

I imagine Essendon would be funding the initiative, and knowing Malthouse he'd be expecting absolute top dollar. Just another cost in the never ending list of costs.

Speaking of which, Sir Jimmy is in court yesterday and today taking on his insurers. Estimates are it's another $300K added to the already $1.7m he's racked up so far.

Wouldn't that mean they don't follow their "no organised training or sport" ban, possibly meaning their suspension gets extended?
I should leave it alone but you're not right

I would think that would relate to training within the context a professional sporting team. They can't associate with any organised teams, but banding together purely just to exercise and stay fit (completely separate from any clubs) should be okay.

That was ASADA's costs which he was ordered to pay for losing the case.

He is now requesting Chubb to pay $600k from his insurance.

Wouldn't be surprised it was Paul Little. He is loaded.

I wonder if they could be included in or play against a team from "the recruit"

Being reported that Paul Little may be putting up $1 million to fund training for the banned 34. If this is true, I couldn't imagine WADA would be thrilled as it is skirting awfully close to an organised team process. Provocative moves at this stage just seems really juvenile and pointless.

Not sure why you say that PP. WADA can't rule every aspect of their lives. If they want to train and keep fit they have every right to.

Yeah but when it's being organised and financed by the guy who was President of Essendon at the time of the suspensions, that's just flirting with it being a seen as a Club organized thing. Having Little involved is really just thumbing it at WADA unnecessarily. They may think they understand the intricacies of how WADA view these things, but their record isn't too flash.

They've probably had "strong legal advice" that they can get away with it. So expect them to get hammered in court in a few months.

They'll be right, they've got further advice that the insurance will cover it

It goes to the ongoing mindset of the EFC in relation to this entire debacle. And that is why they will never become a super power again - you need to accept responsibility for your actions before you can move on. This club (and the players) still think they are absolved from any personal liability.

Paul Little has a lazy $1 billion floating around so this is just lunch money for him.

The irony is that Little made a large part of his fortune suing people.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

If Mick Malthouse wants to train the players, and Paul Little wants to pay for it out of his own pocket - then I think it is a good result all round.

Some structured training and routine will be helpful in keeping the players mentally healthy through what will be an incredible tough year.

You're a more trusting person than me or, I suspect, those at WADA then Ozza.

I'm all for them training/supporting each other as a group, but having Little financing/organizing it is courting disaster.

If the Russian sprint team wanted to train as a group through their ban and the guy in charge of the Athletics Federation at the time of the ban said he pay for it all, I reckon WADA might just look at that as organised training.

If Little funds their organised group training and WADA informs Crameri and the others a week later that their 2 year ban has recommenced, what then?

Why run that risk or place that threat over the players heads? They need to move on from that world not stay trapped in it.
