    Re: Father/Son Watch

The entire Sydney situation was totally ridiculous. The trading of picks was and has always been a farce but abusing the academy system to get access to 356-gamer John Blakey’s son just makes a mockery of what the academy system is allegedly trying to achieve. It’s just a hunch but I reckon that he might’ve found his way into the game without the Swans’ assistance.

That's the argument being used about JUH going forward, without naming him. Or Thomas & Quaynor last year. The irony isn't lost of me the complaints about the national NGA system came from clubs with their own academies who have plundered the draft.

I agree with the criticisms to be honest. Good thing it’s football and you don’t have to be objective.

This is a long thread, and forgive my confusion, but can someone provide a succinct summary on who Ugle-Hagen is and the father/son connection?

Not Father son. He's in our academy zone, as part of the indigenous component of the NGA set up.

Notes from last weekend (from BF):

              #25 Jamarra Ugle-Hagan

The Oakleigh big man continued his recent form with a bag of four goals in another impressive athletic display. Finished with 10 touches to go with his haul of four, Ugle-Hagan was outstanding for the Chargers. Also had six marks and is piecing together a couple of fine weeks in attack for Oakleigh. Did miss a very gettable set shot early that would’ve given him five for the day but slotted a goal a minute later from the exact same spot to make up for it. Played a starring last quarter, bagging two goals and threatening to bring the margin out to triple figures.

yeah he is discussed in wrong thread. There is an academy thread being ignored

Seems worth a merge then as a future priority access thread of sorts.

Yep. I got sick on a iPad of going back and forth between screens, and copied texts etc. I was going to cut back posts, or focus on one or the other, but this was my solution. If anyone wants to enough, I like what Hujsh posted: Future Priority Access Thread (F/S, NGA). My bad Tragician. But on topic, Ugle-Hagan sounds like a dream to get our hands on.

Left field father/son watch, but has anyone else noticed the body of work put in by Darcy Macpherson this year? Would be a cheaper small pressure fwd than Papley. I reckon he would have to be in the top half dozen small pressure fwds this year. Anyone know his contract status?

I just checked as it happens. Signed last year to 2020.

As expected Kellett didn't get an invite to the draft screening. As Oliver Liberatore hasn't played a single NABL game this year, neither was he.

The West brothers were sitting a couple of tables away from me yesterday at the match day function. Let's hope they are as good as their big brother.

I'd expect Kellett to wind up at Footscray next year.
