    Riccardi?
OOC this year, yes he's GWS but he's been killing as a KPD in the VFL and is ex-Calder / Werribee so has a link to the West.

    Options are thin this year.
Jake Kolo is a neat player but is the same size as Bont so I'm not sure he's ready to play as a legitimate KPD.

He's only 21 and I can only imagine what a future forward line of Naughton, Jamarra, Weightman and Rankine would do to opposition defences. I think he would thrive in our system. He's OOC next year so we would need to stump up some decent trade options for GC. But he's my man!
3 goals in the opening 7 minutes tonight confirms my view. He's a gun.

Can we forget about all the high profile/salary possibilities and just get Marboi Chol.

                Small Forward Option:

                Who: Jamaine Jones

                11 Games* WCE
                7 Games GEEL

                180cm
                82kg
                3.00 seconds over 20m

                Status: Out of Contract 2021
Issue: Depth player if Willie Rioli is preferred next year.
Why: Having a good run of games and doing well. Very quick and we are pumping speed into our forward 50. Add speed, preparedness to tackle, uses the ball really well and finishes well (see below).
Why us: Victorian, Country Victorian including schooling around Ballarat. Was about to do his induction at Footscray VFL before WCE used their last list spot on him.
Cost: Shouldn’t be too much at all.

2021 Stats: Not a huge accumulator for touches, nearly 9 per game but 83% efficient. But impacts with four tackles per game, 1.7 intercepts, 1.9 marks, 1.9 I50’s, and generates 4.1 score involvements including 1.4 goals (1 per game himself, plus .4 GA’s). And he’s very accurate in front of Goals, 1.0 to just 0.2 behinds per game.

Apart from targeting a Darcy Moore with their cap strife, I wonder if Carlton’s review concludes trading out some talent and properly rebuilding?

Hamling could be cooked or unwilling to head back. McKay & McAsey signed. I can’t see GCS letting Collins go. I’m not keen on one year stop gaps like Davis.

We have a clear need. There’s one or two good KPDs a year that get traded. I hope that’s us.

My Update from my 27 April position:

                          My take:

Wallis - would be well within his rights to look elsewhere if he can't crack a game at the dogs. Don't want him to go, but would expect him as a professional footballer to look for a club that will play him; Update - definitely gone, cannot see why he would stay

JJ - hard call, but if we got a half decent offer I would take it. If he left for more dosh elsewhere I would let the trade happen to open up a spot - Williams/Dale/Richards/Butler all have his HB spot covered; Update - despite him playing games I have this as no change - can get a role player for less

R Smith - time to make the call that should have been made at the end of 2020; Update - changed my mind on him - keep, good role player, not always in best 22.

Hayes - as for R Smith; Update - no change, will go at end of 2021

Richards - want to keep him, but if the numbers are right I would trade. Something in the 20's would do it, maybe with a future pick as well; Update - no change

Lippa - a little like Richards, want to keep him, but if the numbers were right then do the trade. Again I'd look for a 20's pick plus a future pick; Update - edging towards the door, has had his chances this year and hasn't fully grasped them

Lewy Young - dont want trade him as he has so much upside, but if we are not going to play him then we need to make a call and trade him. The problem is we will be giving him away for peanuts; Update - he will move on. From the 2/3 gams I have seen this year we will be giving away a young guy in a role that we very much need to fill after pumping 4 to 5 years of development into. He will go to Adelaide/Port and they will be laughing

Wood - on current form deserves another year (which I believe he has), but after 2022 you would begin to question; Update - no change

West - I expect that he will stay, but again if he is not getting the game time he may field offers from other clubs. Update - may be open for a move to get opportunities, especially with Garcia leap frogging him.

Cordy - I rate him. Awkward though he is I believe he has something to offer, though whether he is good enough to hold down a backline spot is debateable. Not tall enough to be a pure KPD, is he the Wood replacement? Update - keep

Jong - I actually wonder whether we will give him another 12 months. Appreciate it may be a waste of a list spot, but he is a popular team member and moralewise it could be the right call. Update - this he is gone, possibly rookie list, but going to be tough to retain him.

Yeah, why would he want success Dave? I wonder if we will make enquiries if he finishes off the year strongly?

Two-club Tarrant? Not on Noble's watch

NORTH Melbourne coach David Noble expects veteran Robbie Tarrant to retire a one-club player despite expected interest in the key defender from premiership contenders.

At 32, Tarrant is the second-oldest player on the rebuilding list and remains an integral part of the Kangaroos' backline.

He is three games into his comeback after having a small lump removed from his kidney in March and was missing until round 13.

The one-time Syd Barker medallist has lined up 167 times for North and Noble sees Tarrant adding plenty more games to that tally.

"I couldn't see Robbie playing for another club, let's be honest," Noble said.

"I don't envisage him going anywhere. There's certainly no indication from his side of things.

"From a club's perspective, I would be even surprised if that was even a consideration.

"We've enjoyed Robbie being back, he's a key part of our leadership group."
