Re: 2021 Rolling List Management Discussion

Patrick Lipinski has a three-year deal in front of him from the Western Bulldogs but two clubs are still chasing the young midfielder

THE WESTERN Bulldogs have tabled a three-year contract offer to Patrick Lipinski as the young midfielder weighs interest from Carlton and Collingwood.

Lipinski has played 11 games this season for the Dogs but has been in and out of the side and is out of contract at the end of this season. He last played in round 20, when he was the unused medical substitute.

The Bulldogs want to retain the 23-year-old and see him as a part of their future and have presented him a deal that would tie him to the club until the end of 2024.

The Blues and Magpies are understood to be interested in the hard-running ball-carrier who has played on the wing and has also shown he can push forward to hit the scoreboard.

It can only be trying to improve his trade value surely. No way this actually happens.

If we can hang onto Lipinski at a low rate for three years why wouldn't we?
            TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.

We typically don't turn a lot of players over so I'm not really surprised we have put an offer forward although 3 years is a bit longer than many of us might have thought.
Perhaps he is working hard on whatever he has been told to focus on we think there is some more upside to be had.

Lipinski is clearly not in our plans going forward so we shouldn't waste our time with this.

3 years? Wow I am surprised.

I don’t see ant scenario where this isn’t posturing. Offering a contract doesn’t mean he will accept the money. He doesn’t get any guarantees the years would be of more games than this year. But it gives Power the ability to argue he’s worth more because we offered him 3 years. And Young 2 years last week. At a minimum we are helping them negotiate better deals elsewhere.

If you believe all this, we might not have enough vacancies. Because we may as well sign Cavarra & Hayes too.

We will be active because we need to.

Well we do when it suits us. I mean how many players are left from the youngest premiership side in the universe (or whatever it was)?

I really don't see this as anything other than trying to keep a player who can play senior footy quite well but has some things to work on.

                      On our terms.

If he wants to explore his options elsewhere instead of taking a three year deal where he might be part of a successful group then good on him, it's up to him and if he leaves we should wish him well because opportunities aren't guaranteed. This won't do anything to push his value elsewhere up, all it will do is help us retain him if he thinks tenure on whatever money we've offered him is better than whatever he can get elsewhere with the uncertainty of moving clubs.

It's pretty simple, he's high quality depth for us and you need to retain high quality depth.

Sure, but if he signs we're stuck with Lipinski for three years who we won't play

I don’t take any stock in the article. He would want to be playing senior footy, and he won’t with Bevo and the MC in place, as you say. His future is elsewhere and everyone knows it.

Why would he trust our MC with the next 3 yers of his career?

When he has been dropped is often hasn't been unwarranted, I can see his deficiencies, but he must be so frustrated.
I should leave it alone but you're not right

He wouldn't have had the time Dunks has had that's for sure.

But I guess Dunkley has some credits in the bank, his best is better but at current form not sure he deserves his place.

                              Pray he finds it again.

A freebie with two years left - would be better than no ruck cover.
