Re: 2021 Rolling List Management Discussion

Yeah I don't think its an injury, I think he's just totally lost confidence in himself.

Unless there's an injury with symptomology of making you kick a ball as far and high as you can every time you touch one.

      You need more than athleticism.

      How often does he just fly for the ball and either;
      a) Take out his own teammates
      b) Miss the ball / not kill the contest
      c) Leave his opponent goal side to collect the ball
      d) All of the above in the one play

He isn't quick, not an overly great handler of the ball under pressure and his skills are average.

He was good to provide a buffer while we were developing and he's courageous, but I don't see a spot long term for him. Happy to keep him as depth, happy for him to look elsewhere.

Ive noticed c) alot. Gets sucked too close into the boundary and doesn't have the lateral speed / movement to recover.

I think a lot of it has to do with a lack of confidence which may be fitness/injury related. When he's up and about, his timing is a lot better but it feels like at the moment he knows he has to go for it in contests, but doesn't know when. His game against the GC was pretty disastrous.

He does it so often when he can't impact the contest. It is not an issue of relative height.

If it was the issue he only has a spot if he trains to be taller

Perhaps a pick swap but nothing substantial

I'd keep him at the club if he is contracted

Not too long ago he was one of our first picked.
I'm hoping he can recapture that form, especially as I don't think Wood is going to be overly durable in the next year and a bit.

We also have Buku developing in a similar role but no guarantees he makes it.

As others have said he might be carrying a few niggles that are impacting his confidence, and that's flowing onto his timing and decision making. He could just be putridly out of form and in need of a reset over preseason.

I really noticed the high bomb come into his game last year, he needs to stamp it out.

He was mooted as unlucky to have not made the All Australian squad by Bevo in 2019, he can clearly play even if he isn't perfect. At 27 if he was open to a trade there'd definitely be interest. Just because he's not playing it doesn't make him bad automatically, remembering that we have Williams and Dale who are excellent players in the role he plays, and Richards is a favourite of the MC.

Who knows, he might even be playing Saturday.
                    TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.

Croz is one of the most popular members of the squad and is great mates with Bont and Dunks. I don't think he'd ever go anywhere and as mentioned, Wood is almost done and having experienced depth in defence is a good thing.

Lots of talk about Lipinski leaving for more opportunities, but what about West?

He seems to have fallen behind a number of players such as Garcia and McNeill.

What would West's manager be saying to him?

Crozier is quick, I was at a game in 2019 v Collingwood where they couldn't take a mark inside 50 because Crozier would come flying out of nowhere, leap horizontally and get a fist on the ball

He should absolutely be looking around.

I personally don't see a future for him, to me he is another Honeychurch, destined to be a dominant VFL player and a nothing AFL one. Like Mitch his best position is as an inside mid, but he isn't big enough to play there so has to be some kind of hard at it forward. For me he doesn't have the tricks the others have (Garcia is good in close, McNeill is a better user and more outside, Scott plays within his limitations really well and is a good mix of everything). He also does a lot of dumb stuff which is infuriating (flies for marks despite being tiny, takes on tacklers despite being tiny), and doesn't have the physical attributes like speed to make up for his lack of size. If another club wants to offer him opportunity and years he should take it, he could maybe squeeze out some years or even a career as an AFLish level player, but I don't think so with us.
I should leave it alone but you're not right
