Re: 2023 List Management Thread
This is not a comment on Ruscoe, but Markov was a player recently who wasn't getting a game at a rubbish club and has now blossomed into an elite running rebound defender with a premiership contender.
No doubt we are scouting all opposition lists to see what diamonds can be unearthed in areas of need, as we should be."Look at me mate. Look at me. I'm flyin'"Comment

Re: 2023 List Management Thread
I don't see any replacement for Duryea on the horizon - JJ is a rebounder with a reasonable defensive side; Baily Dale is a rebounder with no defensive side; and Luke Cleary still looks every inch the VFL player he did when we recruited him. Ed is our only elite defender - a rebounder with great defensive skills. But he's a unicorn at Whitten Oval. We need a lock-down defender to attend to the Charlie Camerons of this world.
At Hawthorn, Duryea provoked a reaction similar to that which many Western Bulldog supporters have towards Roarke - frustration. But through perserverence and focus on his role, he won through. I think that, given a run at it and given specialist training in the pre-season, Roarke's physical strength, marking capability and athleticism will see him him become quite useful in the same way as Duryea.Comment

Re: 2023 List Management Thread
Huge difference was Duryea's ability to get on the park though. The lowest number of games Duryea played in a season was 15 at Hawthorn, Roarke's played 10, 5, 6, 14 and 0 since 2018.At Hawthorn, Duryea provoked a reaction similar to that which many Western Bulldog supporters have towards Roarke - frustration. I think Roarke probably has the ability to make it as a solid AFL footballer, but I just don't think his body is going to let him do that.Comment

I wouldn’t be opposed to Ruscoe to be honest. He looked absolutely huge and much improved in the only game he got for them this year.- I'm a visionary - Only here to confirm my biases -Comment

Re: 2023 List Management Thread
Good suggestion. We should find out. What we would need to do is to train him for the role. Start at VFL and go from there. But let's not turn him into a VFL jack of all trades.
I would keep Roarke on the list next year and have both vie for the same role for, while Roarke has a history of injury as Lemmon points out, so does Gallagher. Gives us insurance.Comment

Re: 2023 List Management Thread
I had him down as Duryea's replacement in the preseason before all his injuries. He has finished the year off well so I hope he is trained for that position for nest year.Comment

The story:
Dogs sniffing around injured Saint
A second club – the Western Bulldogs – has expressed interest in hard-luck St Kilda defender Nick Coffield, one of a number of Saints whose future is in limbo.
Brisbane also inquired about the out-of-contract Coffield, the No.8 pick in the 2017 draft who has not played at AFL level since 2021 due to an ACL setback and then persistent calf issues.
The 23-year-old made it back for four VFL games late in the season, averaging 23 disposals, six marks and eight rebound 50s, and is one of a number of out-of-contract players on the Bulldogs’ radar, including promising Lion Kai Lohmann.FFC: Established 1883
