Who'll ever forget them wanting Scotty West and offering up Someone called Darren Walsh!
    They later delisted him.

Happy for the club to keep looking for other options, one bad egg etc.

Good luck to the kid and I hope he manages to turn it all around and realise the opportunities he has in front of him.
If we were in a better position I would consider him as an option, but it is such a big risk and with us in the position we have to calculate every move by the nth degree.
If all goes awry we have much more to lose than a player.
Not a risk I, nor IMO Macca, will consider in our position.

I reckon he'll go late/rookie. A team will be able to handle him and we'll all look back in years to come at the one that got away.

I see Vic Metro beat WA with Boyd going off injured early.
Early Days, but it looks like after the first pick you can throw a blanket over the rest.
Probably Boyd Aish Scharenburg at this stage.

                      OPERATION GET DAYLE GARLETT

                      • All this is on the proviso that he’s changed his lifestyle around, which from all accounts he has

This kid is amazing. I’ve watched a number of games he’s played in, most recently a WAFL game against Perth.

He has an amazing vertical leap, his left foot kicking over extended distances is effortless and his chip field kicking is elite – much like a Pendlebury. He's a great kick for goal and has kicked over 20 goals from 8 games this season in for Swan Districts while also playing a roaming role all over the ground.

This kid glides over the turf and combines nous and vision to side-step with ease. Not blistering, but his long strides make up for any standard gate lack of pace.

It would be absolutely criminal if he didn’t get drafted – which I don’t think would happen. I honestly think that Dayle is that much of an elite talent that he’ll go within the first two rounds, and even that is late for him, but given his troubles of last year, understandable.

I’d really love to have this kid at the club. We have Brett Goodes who could take him under his wing, especially with his previous experience in this area and guide him through. With our Football department structure, facility and training upgrades I believe if he came to our club he’d be an asset for years to come.

We have a lack of genuine Aboriginal talent at our club. The mercurial talent is gone. He’s no Faulkner/Stack/Hill. This kid is exactly the calculated risk we need to take to go forward on the park where we’ve fallen short so many times before.

Seconded, should have got him last year cheaply, we had one spot left. Goodes could still have been upgraded with our season ending injuries.

If we were a Perth based team, I am not sure that we could mend his ways.

Now I don't know him, but say for instance, he was moved to the other side of the Country, to a team with a good group of young individuals and really taken under the wing of our mature senior players, this could really work.

Thirded - lets try it - Could we nab him with our third round pick or do we think he wont be around?

It's a calculated decision. If he has mended his ways - i hate using that as the get out clause but my understanding is that he has - then in my opinion we'd have to use our early second rounder.

                            * If we managed to trade for an earlier second pick then i'd use that to hoepfully guarantee it.

I really wanted Garlett last year and the club was very interested in him last year too (Ability wise). But given our recruiting places a reasonable amount emphasis on bringing quality people to the club, it appears to be a longshot that we will pick him up.

He wont be there in the second round.

Would be the most talented player in the draft - and, now that he is 'proving it' at senior level, the best performed.
What should I tell her? She's going to ask.
