I also went to see Vedder on Friday - it wasn't bad. Songs like Light Years (off Binaural) always sound better live than the flat recorded version, and Ed played it ok. He's a bit better on the axe than I give him credit for. No Betterman which was a surprise (I'm over that song though) Elderly Woman was probably the highlight, and Hard Sun to close out the night was quality.
Saw Stone Temple Pilots a few weeks back - good singalong. There was a lot of love in the crowd for them, it was a cracking atmosphere. Big Empty & Plush were brilliant.Float Along - Fill Your LungsComment

Re: Recent Gigs & Upcoming ones
Unwritten Law were freaking awesome. Was about 3 people from the stage..mental. Never experience the whole 'moshpit' thing..luckily I was to the right side in both senses and came out without bruises. New album out this week and another tour in November. Awesome.
Oh only downside, some main support band called Heroes for Hire...not a fan.Comment

Re: Recent Gigs & Upcoming ones
Just got an email from Preferred Seating. BOOM CRASH OPERA are playing at Palms at Crown on Saturday 9th July. SEAN KELLY is the special guest. It's called "These Here Are 25 Years!". Tickets are $59 but I assume may be a little cheaper when Ticketmaster start selling them (probably next week). I loved Boom Crash Opera in my high school days and have always wanted to see Sean Kelly. Dogs are playing the Sunday at 4.40pm so no footy clashes either!!
"Boom Crash Opera would like to invite you to join them for a night to remember and help celebrate 25 years of Boom Crash Opera history by taking a look back at the bands remarkable career. The band has a transparent recognition of their influences. None would be as great as Models front man Sean Kelly, a man they have many times, attempted to clone. This is not a night to be missed, 25 years of Boom Crash Opera and the honouring of the great man and great music of Sean Kelly… with Sean Kelly!"

No surprise that he didn't play Betterman or any of PJs other best known songs. Looking at his solo setlists he doesn't play them too often and I'm glad - save them for Pearl Jam concerts.Comment

Re: Recent Gigs & Upcoming ones
Went on saw Dead Letter Circus last saturday at the Corner Hotel and enjoyed it, however they weren't amazing.
However, their first support act were very impressive. Called "[Me]" (an ungoogleble band name) they sounded like a mixture of Muse, End of Fashion, Queen and a little bit of the Beatles. The singer has the closest voice to Matt Bellamy's I've heard, and the use of the Piano to boost the bass lines was different to how most other bands atm use the instrument. Very impressive and reccomend you check them out: http://www.meband.com/I should leave it alone but you're not rightComment

Re: Recent Gigs & Upcoming ones
Boogiefest this weekend, arguably the best of the annual camping festivals.
Very happy with the line up from such a small festival (500 tickets last year, 750 this year):
ROGERS, KENT, HOPKINSON, LANE & FRIENDS, THE FELICE BROTHERS, TONY JOE WHITE, DAN KELLY'S DREAM BAND, GRAVEYARD TRAIN, BOOMGATES, MACHETE MOON, EVEN, OH MERCY, BARBARION, MATT SONIC & THE HIGH TIMES, CAITLIN ROSE, THE LAURELS, DICK DIVER, GOSSLING, SMOKE MACHINE, MONEY FOR ROPE, THE LEVEL SPIRITS, BEACHES, CHRIS ALTMANN'S QUE PASO REVUE, IMMIGRANT UNION and LITTLE JOHN on the stage, and VAN WALKER'S CRACKED COUNTRY LIPS around the camp fire at night. Sensational sounds til real late in the SHEARING SHED DISCO.
Van Walker around the campfire at night will be brilliant, the You Am I mashup band sounds cool, been waiting ages to see Felice Bros, Graveyard Train are great live and the mighty Barbarion!! have just released what could very well be my new favourite Australian film clip (You Tube search for Barbarion - My Rock. Epic)Western Bulldogs: 2016 PremiersComment
