Re: Recent Gigs & Upcoming ones
I took my son to see the Painters and Dockers in Port Melbourne a couple of weeks ago. We ended up on stage singing "You're going home in the back of a divvy van" together.
Backing vocals anyway. They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.Comment

Re: Recent Gigs & Upcoming ones
Went to see Spoon at the Forum on Wednesday night.
Fantastic gig. Pretty good run through a bunch of material from Kill The Moonlight on. Included a cover of Eddy Current's "Memory Lane". Also awesome versions of "Small Stakes" and "Black Like Me". Only disappointment's were no "The Way We Get By" or "They Want My Soul", but great gig.
Have to mention the support Deep Sea Arcade who are the first wave of 90's Madchester nostalgia I've seen. Sound like a mix of the Charlatans / Stone Roses / Mondays and a singer that carries himself with the limpness of a Shaun Ryder at his peak.
I think Divine Fits has loosened up Britt Daniel and made him relax a bit more (I could be way off the mark here) and enjoy the moment. Also having Alex Fischel (Divine Fits) join Spoon might have also helped amp up the energy on stage.
I did have to laugh a few times, once when the mike died as he was about to launch into small stakes and further into the gig he took the microphone and left it on one of his amps. As they went to start the next song he was still merandering around stage and then when the vocals were to kick in he went to sing but he had no microphone, as it was still on the amps.
I was bemused to read a few reviews commenting how it was a "typical spoon show" nothing special, just solid indie pop.
I couldn't disagree more.
All I can say is I can't wait for the next Spoon and or Divine fits tour.... Perhaps it could be a double headliner?More of an In Bruges guy?Comment

I also managed to catch this gig. Amazing gig, actually one of my favourite gigs. I am still listing to their albums solid a week and half after the gig.

I was looking at a photo of my son when he was three through the week and thinking it only seemed like yesterday. He goes to gigs with me now.

I went to the races on Saturday, and found it comical that they had special rail arrangements for Flemington - with no access to Show Grounds and nothing for Soundwave!TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.Comment

Re: Recent Gigs & Upcoming ones
Did you catch the first race on Saturday? I ran into some guys at Soundwave who were celebrating their horse saluting in it's first race at the juicy odds of $61. They made a mint!Comment

Went along to The Eagles last night. Fantastic show, which incorporated a bit about their history and how they came to be.
Thoroughly enjoyed it."Loves a scrap....oh yeah & he's a pretty handy footballer as well"Comment

Re: Recent Gigs & Upcoming ones
Went to the Foo Fighters last night at ANZ stadium, never seen them before but the reports are true was absolutely brilliant. Played for bang on 3 hours at full throttle with songs from each of their albums. Brad Wilk from Rage did a cameo on the pigskin while Taylor Hawkins belted out some Van Halen. Brilliant gig. Me and the lass sitting at the Sydney airport about to head to Singapore for a few days and more then a few Chilli Crab. Just filthy that I'll be missing the hot diggities on Saturday. Hope they tear that piss weak Richmond side a new one.

Thanks for the Foo update. I got some tickets yesterday so I might be missing the last quarter of footy unless it's a cracking game.
