That's when it was last fashionable I reckon. I've been reading it since the late '80s and didn't notice it wasn't cool anymore.

I checked the lineup for that festival. UK subs, Slaughter and the Dogs, the Dickies, Jah Wobble, the Ruts. Just some great names from the history ofpunk.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

Did you see the PIL doco at MIFF last year (or anywhere else for that matter)? Thought Wobble's stories made him the highlight of the whole thing.

I have not. I shall track it down.

Spoiler but most of the stories reach their climax at "so I belted him"

I honestly didn’t realise that VIZ was still a going concern.
They’ve certainly dig up some names on that bill, that’s for sure.

Yeah, it doesn't push the envelope in the way that it used to(although I've never been a fan of that whole "I liked them before they got popular" type of bravado, who cares when you started to like a band?) but it still has a funny strip every now and then.

Bought tickets for Lucero today. They are touring next year. My favourite band in recent history.

I rate Lucero, going to look into getting tickets myself.

How was it AP? I went on Tuesday night and enjoyed it. But then it was the first time i'd seen him.

Heading to Max Watts in the city tonight to see Painters and Dockers. Paul Stewart survived bleeding on the brain last year so never know when they might give it away. Unfortunately they don't come on until after 11. Was hoping that these old guys would want to start earlier. Been a long day.

Even before he had the head issues last year Paulie told me "the specialist says that I only have half a dozen gigs left in me." A mate and I found him wandering around Footscray one say last year. He came up to us and said "I know you guys don't I?" We said "ummm yeah" (thinking it was Paul being Paul) but in the end we had to borrow a newspaper off a guy sitting at a table (there was a picture of him in the paper that day) and said "look, that's you. You are Paul Stewart"

I saw Idles twice the other week. Awesome live band. Croxton show was LOUD. Corner show probably marginally better despite being a gazillion degrees.
Have Teenage Fanclub next week and Propagandhi in May on the slate.

A few festivals in a week for me. A nostalgic 90’s lineup last Saturday at Hotter than Hell last week with the likes of Jebediah, Spiderbait, Magic Dirt, Bodyjar, etc and a taste of the new at Laneway yesterday.

Jebediah were the standout last Saturday and Gang of Youths and The Smith Street Band were easily the best yesterday. If you get the chance to see Gang of Youths live (it will require getting in fast to get tickets as the sell out fast these days) you should jump at the chance.

Wow those are some names. I was planning on going to the Idles show but couldn't get around work.

Saw David Nance last night - was a pretty good show but he was all too willing to indulge himself with unnecessary solos and/or covers.

Well this is awkward. I have been pretty inactive here of late, but this question is from August! Apologies Hose B. Dylan put on a terrific show I thought. 3rd time seeing him, I wasn't disappointed. He has surrounded himself with top shelf musicians, and I enjoyed it immensely. If I had to give any criticism, I'd say perhaps it would have been good to see him play guitar (he stayed on piano all night) but really, that's just nitpicking. His voice suited the material well.

In more recent news, I saw TOTO with a mate at Festival Hall in January. They've had more lineup changes, keyboardist David Paich on the shelf. However the guy filling in for him is a gun. Only 26, and a brilliant player. The guys sounded great. On the other hand, Festival Hall is a complete hole. Yes it has a long and storied history, but really, it's time has come and gone. Either extensive renovations, or a bulldozer required.
