Yeah she's great, all her songs are about bongs or High Street it's awesome.

Just got signed to Mom & Pop Records in the States, who distribute bands like Wavves and FIDLAR and (ugh...) Flume. So yeah, world domination sounds about right.

I did hear that but didn't realise how big that actually was. That would explain how and why she is managing to sell out international shows - regardless of how big the venue is - apart from the fact she is freakin cool.

A friend of ours decided to open the purse and went back again last night. She said both concerts were perfect but both had very different set lists. We missed out on the river and one or two others. But obviously there were some songs on the Tuesday that weren't on Wednesday. Doesn't matter, you will love it.

They were exceptional live, and even their slower more and downbeat songs really popped in the live setting (especially 'Demons'). Was great to hear a bunch of songs from 'Boxer' and 'Alligator' and not just the last two albums. Standouts for me were 'England', 'Afraid of Everyone', 'Bloodbuzz Ohio' and 'Mr November' - the crowd went nuts when all these songs started cranking up. Matt Berninger is a very charismatic frontman and really worked the crowd beautifully - towards the end he was crowd surfing and singing right in the middle of the throng. Very generous gig as well - easily passed the two hour mark. The Music Bowl is fast become my favourite live venue.
My personal favourites were "Slow Show", "Apartment Story" and "About Today". I was happy with the setlist. I would have really loved to have heard "Baby, we'll be fine", "Start a War" and "Ada", but geez, you can't have everything.

It's a concerning measure of how old and grumpy I've got that I was worried about him getting the mic to his mouth in time to sing the next line when he was in amongst the crowd! But it was cool to watch, and the crowd around him were sointo it, it was insane.

Gotta disagree on the venue. It's beautiful, but I kind of feel like the open air setting loses a bit of atmosphere. Each to their own though.

I had some criticisms like I usually do regarding set list and what they could/should have done with certain songs but I can't really complain as I had a great night.
It's incredible just how powerful he sounded - I thought he'd get a bit washed out live, but he's like a rumbling lion.

There's always stuff you miss out on at concerts, but for the most part I thought they played a setlist that should mostly please everyone. I was particularly glad when they played "Pink Rabbits" as I don't much care for that song and I was busting to go to the toilet!

I thought overall that it was a great show, great setlist. They're just complete pros on stage and I'll definitely be lining up to see them again next time. The horns were amazing, just worked so seamlessly into the "rock and roll" sound that you almost don't notice them.

Also, with that rapid beat style that's so characteristic of The National's sound (I don't know if there's a musical term for it), I've decided that the drummer is one of the hardest working guys in rock.

Oh and a final note: the Vanderlyle Crybaby Geeks singalong was epic. I'd seen it before on some YouTube shows, but being there in person was another thing entirely.

Surprised that "Slow Show" was one of your favourites. It's probably my favourite National song but I thought it was the most disappointing song of the night personally. Just thought the main riff was completely lost and much to quiet and subtle, when it should be this the feature of the song.

I liked the venue, although I was in the seating bit which is a very big difference to the standing. I always saw the National as a real sit back and absorb while drinking red wine band, which would have been perfect for the Music Bowl, although they were a bit rockier than that. I think they were better suited to it than Arcade Fire though, or other bands to play it in the past including Tool and the Chili Peppers.

It was a very big setlist, about 23 songs. I didn't think it was perfectly structured, I think at times they had momentum which they didn't fully take advantage of. I thought songs like Bloodbuzz Ohio were lost in the middle of the set a little and I would have liked to see them really finish the main set with 3 or 4 of their really strong songs, something like England, Bloodbuzz, Fake Empire and Abel.

It's all in the bass drum with the National. The drummer is really good at changing the tempo of the song with the bass drum, look at something like Humiliation for that. It's almost like a Haertbeat getting faster and more powerful. Loved the intro to Squalor Victoria.

My favourites of the night were Bloodbuzz Ohio, Afraid of Everyone, Conversation 3:18, Need my Girl (purely for the guitar trick they did which was really cool), Abel, Fake Empire, Humliation and mr November, so pretty much everything

Would gladly see them again, but I have this concert on the rung just below my handful of ""greatest ever"" concerts. I just felt with a better arranged setlist and some slight changes it could have been even better.
I should leave it alone but you're not right

Your daughter clearly has good taste!

Did she like the venue? I think they also do an open air cinema there as well.

Yes they do have the open air cinema. She said it was great.

Saw Springsteen last night at AAMI Park.
Wonderful performance( not a massive fan, but it was sensational)
Did every number from Born in the USA, and finished with " The River".
Opened with Highway to Hell from ACDC( apparently does a number of a band from the City)
Eddie Veder from Pearl Jam was a special guest, as was a member of Rage Against the Machine.
If you're in GA be prepared for a long one( went 3 and a half hours)
Saw some of Hunters, they were excellent ( bulldog scarf on the drum kit)
Mate had a bottle of water that security made him take off the lid before entering ( hah?)

Sounds like a top night, especially with the guests. Pumped right now!

Mark Seymour is a big doggies fan. I remember him being the only other person wearing a Footscray cap around St Kilda back in my salad days.

Phwoaaaaaaaar. What an amazing show. Feel so lucky I got to see him.

Opened with Born in the usa, which got the crowd going from the get-go and finished with Twist n Shout (different!)

Played everything I wanted to hear personally (except the river) and loved how he got multiple kids and one very happy lady up for Dancing in the dark.

Was late so arrived at 8pm and finished just after 11.30, huge effort.

Edit: Forgot to mention the faces in the crowd I saw pre-show. Our own Macca was about 4 people away from me, guzzling the froffies and Murray the red wiggle wandered past (very noticeable with his height and wiggly body)

Saw a few of the Geelong boys in the crowd at Springsteen last night, no Doggies.

Seeing Tom Morello duel with Springsteen during Ghost of Tom Joad was my highlight

Went to see Eddie Vedder at the Palais last night, great show as always. He mentioned going to watch Springsteen the night before (he must have sat in the crowd whilst not on stage) which resulted in him having a very large hangover after people in the crowd kept on giving him beers throughout the show.
