This match was the first time they have played with only 4 bowlers for quite a long time - they have gone with 2 seamers and 3 spinners for at least the last few months.

The best score by any Australian no 6 in the last 15 tests has been Hilton Cartwright with 37 - diabolical. Remember the good old days when Damian Martyn would come in at 6, followed by Gilly at 7?

They were also posting scores of 700. They've clearly doctored these pitches to suit. It's Head over there?

Same rumour again (courtesy ch10 news) to when Mitch Marsh should've been dropped in Australia this test summer. Apparently heading back to WA for shoulder treatment... Not being dropped...

Selectors just won't drop him, or even say they'll drop him. So like last time, he won't have any form and will come back in when media attention drops. Piss weak.

Lehmann has confirmed that Marsh will be replaced by an all-rounder. Henriques the form all-rounder with the bat and Wildermuth considered a bolter. Cartwright, Faulkner and Stoinis could be considered as well

He's having a pretty average Shield season, his ODI hundred probably got him across the line.

I'm in the four bowlers, six batsman camp. Happy to have Usman slot in at 3/4 and everyone drop down one

                    Re: 2017 Tour of India

Whether to play an all rounder or not in India really depends on the pitches they doctor up. There has been absolutely no need for an all rounder in the first 2 tests. Surely they had a fair idea of how those pitches would play beforehand and should have made the call to play Khawaja over Mitch Marsh.

However if they serve up the typical Indian roads like they did recently against England a fifth bowler is probably required.

Stoinis might work but he is the wrong selection. 12 months ago his form was good and now he's been selected when his form is poor.

Selectors said he got picked ahead of Henriques because of his performances for Aus A in this area a few years back

I wonder why he wasn't picked ahead of Cartwright then? Current form isn't a great factor with selections

It gets more baffling. I looked it up and he scored 77, 9* & 10 in India for Australia A
