Re: Early Trade Rumours 2023
Billy Gowers. The gap between his best and worst was huge. At one moment he looked like he could be anything. The next moment, you were lamenting how an AFL footballer could ever do something so bad. An enigma.Comment

But Brodie Mihocheck might have been a bust in our environment. I never buy if we took this player look what might have been. How does the club environment, development, coaching and the opportunites differ and how does that impact what a player ends up becoming?Comment

It is a valid point.

Re: Early Trade Rumours 2023
The decision by Grant to force through the Schache deal never really got the scrutiny it deserved if we are going back to that era. Grant forced that through for the picks used on Sam Taylor, Tom De Koning & Noah Balta. For pick 75+ this year back for trading Schache out last year. I don?t imagine Balme or Wright making calls that horribly bad.Rocket Science: the epitaph for the Beveridge era - whenever it ends - reading 'Here lies a team that could beat anyone on its day, but seldom did when it mattered most'. 15/7/2023Comment

Re: Early Trade Rumours 2023
IIRC Dal wanted an overager, a HB killing it in the VFL. Didn't end up on a list. The name was mentioned at the timeWestern Bulldogs: 2016 PremiersComment

Re: Early Trade Rumours 2023
We announced to the world that we conducted a thorough internal review 12 months ago, then we arrogantly didn't bother releasing the findings to the fans and general public other than to get ourselves a name senior assistant (Lade). When we do even worse in 2023, our response is to announce to the world (even louder this time) that we will conduct a thorough internal review, seemingly with the goal of getting ourselves a name senior assistant.
Outside of sacking Bevo, what else should the club have done so far this off season? Until the replacement assistants are in, and until we see how the coaching crew are structured and performed, it's probably a little early to judge the actions of post-season 2023, isn't it?
I would add that, while optimistic, I'm also nervous that we don't have coaches appointed. The sooner the team is appointed and settled, the better off we'll be.Comment

Re: Early Trade Rumours 2023
Semi-serious thought, because it's already a thing in other sports (eg: the NHL), but if clubs are given the ability to trade without player consent you might offset that by permitting players to negotiate no-movement clauses in their contracts, or limited-movement clauses.Comment
