He obviously got some serious troubles.

Why has Melbourne chose to put this out in the public town square? If they do in fact want to trade him, why devalue him by brining this all to the surface. If they don't want to trade him, why embrass him publicy like this. Won't this just make him even more resentful of the club?

At least Oliver would eat well.

Bad blood between player and club?

Like Stringer everyone in the industry already knows more than the media or you and I. Melbourne lose credibility by trying to pretend facts aren't facts.

People have this weird view that you get better outcomes in negotiations by hiding facts and not disclosing information, when the opposite is absolutely true. Additionally you can condition members/ supporters early enough in the piece to accept what's happening and get on with it.
          TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.

I doubt the club is making this public. I suspect once he's on the table people start rightfully start asking why and some uncomfortable facts start leaking out. It sounds like various people knew some of this rumours already, it's just more acceptable to speak about it.

Thanks. That is a valid point. If it is common knowledge across the industry then they have nothing to lose.

And it's how you frame it.

We're really eager to help find Clayton a fresh start, but equally, we're committed to him because we both entered into a long term contract and are equally responsible for getting the best out of him.

So you can either help us and yourselves, or we move onto the next suitor.

It saves time, nobody's dicking around. And that's where Dodoro comes into it. The media loves the drama but nobody really ever gets bent over by him because he's trying to win individual trades through being a hardarse when everyone else is just using whatever trade they're doing with him as an enabler of a broader list management strategy.

He'd have definitely caught the train up to "town" to hang out there. But alas, I probably only bumped into him and thought he's a pretty cool dude.

I did meet Jonny Hay at Redhead once, I accidentally knocked a pot out of his hand and offered to buy him a new one. He refused the offer, and I asked why not and he said he could afford for me not to. So I asked if he was a big shot and he was surprised I hadn't seen him on TV. So I then asked who he was and upon telling me I then asked Jonny who? And he then said two or three times I'm Jonny Hay man, Jonny Hay!

To be fair to him at the time he was a 20-21 year old earning $100K or so most likely, so that was pretty good and he was also playing AFL when I couldn't get my VH SLX to be reliable playing A-grade ammos.

                      Re: Early Trade Rumours 2023

If rumours are true then I hope Oliver has some high calibre family and friends to support him and that he acknowledges he has some serious problems and seeks professional counselling. Just goes to show money, fame and success do not equate to happiness.

Setting aside my intense dislike for some of the Dees players etc. (Pickett, Goodwin head my yuk list) I also hope he is able to return to top form (except against us), whichever team he plays for, as he is an excellent player and it’s a loss for the competition.
                      Josie :)

I'm just happy Melbourne are following our lead from 2017 & 2018.
I felt like 2023 was their final shot.

GWS have told clubs they'll pay a portion of Nick Haynes' contract if they want to trade for him.

Would we have any interest in Jade Gresham? I know there is a deal with Shiel bubbling away between the Saints and Essendon but would he be worth considering?

Dylan Shiel didn't attend the Essendon B&F and his 200 game milestone wasn't acknowledged during the milestones segment of the night.
                                That's pretty definitive
