      Re: Early Trade Rumours 2023

Looking at Liam Henry’s season, it’s pretty unremarkable. Just 11 games, and just two games with over 23 disposals and a total of one goal for the year.

I know the drum beats are loud, but is this really what we need? If so, what’s a guy with limited hurt factor and in the softer side worth? A later second rounder? A upgrade from their pick 21 (North compo pick) to the Brisbane First if it’s Pick 16-18? (Where we are trading it anyway)

Since his breakout game against the Bumbers (including that game) he's had one game out of 5 where he had less than 23 disposals. Personally I think 23 is a strong pass mark for a winger as far as disposal numbers go. Even the game he had less than that was 20 touches. If he does the defensive running and can apply pressure It's hard not to see him as an upgrade. No idea what we rate his worth as but he is uncontracted which helps (right Lipinski?)

1 goal in 11 games ain’t much hurt factor. How many of his average 20 touches a game are the chipping around the Freo do? Having referenced Lippa, he was pick 43. With points needed this year, a future second or third?

His meters gained is usually good. My impression is he helps drive them forward more than move laterally.

But does he have hurt factor? 1 goal for the season.

Poulter has twice as many goals for the season, and he just was drafted mid season! While Baker has four. (Roarke kicked 5 in 10 games last year). Williams 10. Scott 11.

The heat maps of his performances indicate his better games are sort of back flank or on a wing which explains low goal kicking and higher meters gained. I'm not sure if I'd have him high on a shopping list.

Yep and yep, unless he’s a JJ replacement. Which I doubt as VDM was given two more years. I just hope that if the rumours are true it’s a very low price. I just don’t really see the need to pull this trade.

My psychiatrist and cardiologist has asked me not to.

Seriously, would another club on his last month be offering up two years and forcing us to fight to save him? It makes less sense by the week, and yet my request to become a Cat B rookie remains unanswered. I can do SFA for two years salary as good as the next person. Maybe better.

My analyst and therapist (they're the same person, you should see his business card) agree.

On the other hand, Papley thought it was a great decision. Sydney lobbying for two games against us for the next two years.

Gee he looks good when he?s on. 3 goals in the first three quarters. Leg speed, good tackling, good metres gained.

If he?s got his life straight and a fresh start will consolidate it, he?s got some skills that we could use. If the apparent price is a late first rounder, the Brisbane First could be 16-18 and after potential bids and compo, 20-22. Which means with Croft it needs to be traded. If we can?t do better, it?s worth considering at very least. He could be a very handy player in a more accomplished side.

Is that the only metric? TBH we have enough goal kicking in the midfield, I think better delivery forward and connection from the back half to the forward half might be more of a priority for our wingmen no?

He apparently was a forward initially and had good finishing skills but again I've not exactly watched him much so we're probably both just guessing based on a stat sheet and the one game we saw.

If we get him for a pick in the 40s it's an absolute steal.

The pick given up is my thing, being that his GAs aren’t huge either. He has some soft outside speed which is nice, but that’s about it. It’s a fringe trade I won’t lose sleep despite not being big in him, but is he actually costs something significant like a second rounder, then I can’t get on board.
