Re: AFL targets Essendon Royalty
I'd rather them banned from the league for good.
Seriously I feel for their fans, especially members who have given their money to the club. They should be refunded every dollar they paid for this season or given a free membership in 2014. I'd be fuming if I was a member.Comment

Re: AFL targets Essendon Royalty
How anyone can continue to stand up for Hird and Essendon is beyond me. Bomber Thompson talking about how "generous and kind" the Club are being in accepting these sanctions is an admission of guilt. Simple as that. Why would Essendon even be entertaining discussions if they'd genuinely done nothing wrong? Unless the powerbrokers are all masochists...Comment

Re: AFL targets Essendon Royalty
I hope they have several important players walk out on principle and coupled with their reduced draft picks they spend years in the wilderness.
Their behaviour since this all came out has been worse than their behaviour at the root of the problem. Who would have thought that was even possible!Comment

Re: AFL targets Essendon Royalty
Watching AFL360, Maguire said (paraphrased), “Their ultimate would be to bring the premiership cup back to Windy Hill and justify it”!!!!!
Un-freaking-believable that a code reaches a point where the majority, it now seems, just don't get it.Comment

Re: AFL targets Essendon Royalty
In theory that punishes every other club to stop them from trading into it. If they offer a very good player for our 2nd round pick as a Bulldog supporter I'd like to give our club power to make that deal.
I've got no problem with that clause.Comment

Re: AFL targets Essendon Royalty
They also get a pick at the end of the first round of the draft in 2014. So while it's stated they lose 1st and 2nd round picks for the next 2 years they actually don't.Western Bulldogs: We exist to win premiershipsComment

Re: AFL targets Essendon Royalty
Theoretically, they can trade a few disgruntled players for pick 1. The Boyd pick..Comment

Re: AFL targets Essendon Royalty
What's more, Essendon can turn it into a positive by trading a bunch of players who will no doubt want to leave! Melbourne would surely be listening!!
Incredible.Comment
