The kid can play and he fills one of the two well-publicised holes in our list. As I mentioned on the Stengle thread, all of the talk has been understandably about ruckman- but a lightning x-factor style forward is something that we need to help improve our forward 50.

What happened in the GF (and a few games late in the season) in the middle was alarming, but our often dysfunctional (at worst)/hugely inconsistent (at best) forwardline has been a very long term issue and needs some focus.

A first rounder (assuming we win the GF) at 18, I would be ok with. Perhaps you get a third back. He was a pick 24 in 2018, so perhaps that is overs and the Second + something (like the third we get for Lipinski) might be more around the mark.

But here lies an opportunity to bring in a player of need and another indigenous player (also allegedly a focus) to boot. I hope we are at least putting our hand up.

I would most definitely chase Bobby Hill.

Can we get a ruck combo going with Hill? Kieran Briggs maybe.

Would happily give up our first 2 picks next year for Hill and 1 of Briggs/Flynn. Would probably give up more if we needed to.
Our 1954 premiership players are our heroes, and it has to be said that Charlie was their hero.

Nice to think of Naughton, Schache, English, Marra, Darcy, Hannan, Weightman, VDM & Hill.

Briggs & Sweet, young strong bulls, fighting for the top spot under the tutelage of Martin.

            TOB helping our defence.

You’d take that with ok compensation for Lippa & Young. Still surprised JJ’s name hasn’t been raised or other clubs wanting a HBF while we have an expensive inconsistent forward pocket (finals series permitting).

Who do you think could be a possible destination for JJ?

What is he worth A) in a straight trade; or

              B) trade with us paying a chunk of his salary?

I would’ve thought he’d have a few clubs looking for an experienced HBF. A pick in the late 30’s if we covered some of his salary.

He’s surplus to need unless we play him at HBF and a low return on investment for salary ($600,000). If he puts in another hit and miss season he might not get the money another club might offer him now. A great clubman, but I’m surprised there’s not even a hint about a trade in the media. That’s all.

The HUN has 3 Melbourne clubs interested in him

with Essendon emerging as the front-runner to win his services.

Hill has officially requested a trade out of the Giants for compassionate reasons and is expected to be a Bomber, Hawk or Kangaroo next season.

Essendon have wanted JJ for ages and lack ball winning ability in the middle so could use Wallis
If we add our future first rounder are we close to shaking out Draper?

I wonder if we are still a chance to land Ceglar? With Power appearing to be digging in over Lipinski for pick 43 with Collingwood could that be the pick that the Hawks want? Would we still make a play for Ceglar given he appears to have indicated Geelong is his preference?

Of course the Cats are probably trying to finalise a Jordan Clark trade before making their pitch.

I hope your thinking is correct GVGjr - it kind of makes sense.

Having said that I’m resigned to the fact we won’t be trading in a ruckman this trade period.
More of an In Bruges guy?

Hill is always going to go to a club with a good indigenous program, so Essendon and hawthorn would be front runners for sure. We are NO chance.
I will never see #16 the same!!

You would think that JUH would be a huge draw card and having Varcoe on board has got to help. We are still seemingly lagging behind, but surely we are more attractive than we were 12 months ago and would be some chance (if we have put our hand up).
