    OK.

I like Busslinger fine, but now you have watched the game let me ask you a question:

If Vic Metro have a key forward running riot kicking 7 goals.

    AND.

IF WA have a top 10 draft pick who plays as a key defender...

THEN WHY would the WA coaches not move that top 10 draft pick onto the key forward once 2-3 goals had been kicked?
What should I tell her? She's going to ask.

That is a very good question. I can only guess either they don't want to play the game that way and let the talent shine, or he's not a very good stopper?

Jefferson had a field day, pretty much won the game in that third quarter along with Ashcroft.

          Look - it's a hard one.

I notice you have Hewitt at the top of your list...see, I'm not a fan but have to admit he played very well against Metro. Now, was that because he was hyper-motivated given the consensus #1 pick was on the other team? Maybe. But what happened in the other games? (Now you have to watch them as well!). My issue with Hewitt isn't that he doesn't have talent - he does - but just that it only seems to manifest himself on days when he got out of bed on the left side at 7:04am, there was a previously unopened box of Nutrigrain from which he could pour his breakfast cereal covered in milk that had been maintained at a precise temp of 6 degrees blah blah. He is a mid who can (seemingly) only play mid...how's that gonna work??

Busslinger wasn't moved onto Jefferson which means either:

1/. The coaches didn't trust him to do it.
2/. The coaches thought he might be able to do it but didn't want to risk it because if it went wrong, well, there would be questions about how he would bounce back.

I just don't see how a guy who is the consensus #1 key defender was ON THE FIELD when an oppo key forward kicked 7 goals and no move was made to match him up on that forward. Hell, why didn't Busslinger just give his team-mate a chop-out after Jefferson kicked 3 in 5 minutes?

Maybe I read more into this than most but in most cases when coaches make these decisions it is because they think the player either CAN'T do it or simply WONT do it...and in either case that's not what I want in my key defenders.
What should I tell her? She's going to ask.

Kyle Marshall (198cm KPD/ruck) absolutely smoked the SA combine

            6:27 2km time trial (3rd)
            3.016s 20m sprint (2nd)
            68cm standing vertical jump (2nd)
1st in both running vertical jumps (89cm left hand, 85cm right hand)

"Marshall is a raw, rangy defender, who is good below his knees and has an impressive intercept game. He’s done a little bit of ruckwork over the past two years, but he really showed his potential in defence in 2022. The talented and athletic teenager reads the ball well and finished the under-18 season with 21 disposals and 11 intercepts – four of them marks – against the Eagles."

Couldn't find a lot of info on him. No highlights package or anything but sounds like the kind of player we could use developing on the list

I admit I don't know anything about him either. I do like the idea of an athletic KPD to add to our developing player stocks.

How honest will the coach be when asked why by recruiters?

What is their relationship with that player and what is their relationship with that recruiter?

A BF poster that has been on fire suggested last week if Clarke is there at 21 then good chance we take him.

I've seen a bit of him and he's an okay player but I really think we could do a lot better at pick 21.
At 39, perhaps Clarke would be a good selection.

                            Jhye Clarke?

He's from Geelong I'd not recruit anyone from Geelong ever again.
Worse than WA for the go home factor!
